As part of this group, you will predominantly be involved in architecting and designing data warehouse solutions.



 


You will be a primary contributor in developing, testing and deploying key data warehouses, data marts and will be working with cutting edge technology. This role will prepare you for significant career growth.


 


We are looking for a results-oriented Analytics Solution Architect to be a part of the Data Management Group of our Finance Division supporting the diverse benefits businesses within the UnitedHealthcare Benefits space. The individual will be responsible for providing Solutions Architecture support for complex business problems that include defining business context, business drivers, technology drivers, technology constraints, facilitation and articulation of solution options (with TCO, ROI, benefit alignment and roadmap alignment and gaining alignment across a wide variety of stakeholders on the target solutions. This role will work with Business leaders


across all our lines of businesses to identify, propose and influence business solutions and create technical process blue-prints for proposed solutions.


 


 


Primary Responsibilities:




  • Lead Solution Architecture for Financial Data Management-UHC on cross-segment programs in alignment with the vision, standards and strategy


  • Architect comprehensive solutions across the entire architectural stack - Business Process, Application Services, Data, Infrastructure, Operations, and Security etc.


  • Perform impact analysis of changes that affect multiple systems or functional domains and develop cost / benefit analysis for each identified solution.


  • Decompose complex concepts and translate them into actionable sets of process-modules / activities that are easily understandable by non-technical business users


  • Perform evaluations of existing applications for reuse and leverage existing UHC SAS HPA framework to architect innovative solutions


  • Support Application implementation, Program Status reporting and quality checks on project deliverables
    Collaborate with end-users to evaluate business goals, identify needs, and propose solutions using the whole portfolio of available technical assets that include SAS Business Intelligence, SAS In-Memory and SAS In-Database Technologies, Hadoop, Teradata EDW and other Relational Datastores


  • Be self-motivated and demonstrate an innate ability to absorb new concepts, technical frameworks, programming paradigms while employing them creatively to solve complex analytical problems


  • Act as a technical leader, and an SME - mentor peers and socialize new concepts and solution approaches


  • Proactively seek opportunities to optimize and enhance current technology portfolio, capabilities and processes


  • Manage business relationships on behalf of the broader Finance organization and Leadership

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience in Technology or Analytics

  • 5+ years of experience as a programmer either in object oriented languages like Java, C++, VB or Data Processing Statistical Computing platforms like SAS, R, Python

  • 4+ years of data analysis experience - ability to work with huge volumes of data, disparate relational databases and schemas and design applications that efficiently scale to process hundreds of millions of observations

  • 2+ as a Solutions Architect with the ability to see and present "the big picture" and offer innovative solutions

  • Familiarity with multiple analytical data processing platforms (Traditional BI, Hadoop, Client-Server Architectures), patterns and frameworks (Portals/Mobile, SOA, BPM, MDM, SAAS, etc.)

  • Demonstrated experience developing executable architectural blueprints and roadmaps in a variety roles through a software development process or Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

  • Familiarity with general principles of Enterprise Architecture, such as approaches, design patterns, metrics, and relevant industry standards

  • Experience creating technical documents, business flow and process diagrams

  • Experience in technology assessments, platform consolidation, application rationalization, data migration

  • Strong presentation and communication skills with ability to develop high level executive as well deep-dive technical presentations

  • Interpersonal and relationship skills necessary to work with an integrated team of customers, product managers, project managers, developers, analysts, and quality engineers

  • Excellent Communication (oral & written) skills along with relationship-building and customer facing skills are needed with an ability to facilitate meetings with Business and IT stakeholders

  • Advanced skills in programming languages / problem solving / researching data issues

  • Self-driven with an ability to quickly learn new technologies / concepts independently

  • Progressive work experience in a technology / business analytics role

  • Generate innovative approaches and solutions to business opportunities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others

  • Ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization

  • Unix and SQL expertise

 


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience leveraging the Hadoop ecosystem (specifically Avro, Hive, Pig and HBase) as a

  • Data Lake for offloading traditional ETL workloads

  • Ability to leverage SAS technologies to solve advanced analytics use-cases

  • Project management or process improvement experience

  • Experience in the PBM/healthcare services or adjacent space

  • Experience with Business Process Modeling, Business Process Management, and/or

  • Business Process Automation
