JOB FUNCTION: (Why job exists, what areas it impacts on, requirements to do the job, and Success Factors) This Corporate Logistics position has core responsibility to drive critical transportation sourcing events from the development stage to successful completion and implementation of results. Other key responsibilities will include ongoing commercial management of carriers, development and implementation of strategic logistics initiatives and on-going support of logistics needs and information required by PPG’s strategic business units as gathered through a transportation management system. The Logistics Analyst will also be accountable for additional responsibilities to include related data gathering, transportation metrics and reporting, market research and other department efforts related to transportation RFPs and bid events, carrier activity and carrier performance research. The ability to work efficiently and accurately while under pressure to meet deadlines is critical.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS: A bachelors degree in logistics or an equivalent quantitative discipline is required. Seven to ten years of relevant professional logistics work experience is also required. Candidate must have a proven track record with demonstrated success and delivered results in the area of logistics and transportation sourcing. The position requires a true self-starter that can manage individual projects from start to successful completion. The ideal candidate will be capable of strategic quantitative thinking and detailed spreadsheet analysis to support various initiatives. Strong verbal, written and presentation skills are required. Candidate must be proficient with communication to various levels within the organization. Ability to learn quickly is a must: transportation management system, industry terms and fundamental knowledge of all transportation relative to PPG needs, carrier pricing structures, PPG freight requirements, and PPG contract standards. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with a strong Excel background and spreadsheet/database skill set is required. Limited travel is required.
