In this newly created leadership role, you will own the end-to-end data and technology experience for the Optum Labs user (Partners, Constellations, Internal Teams) and will be responsible for Optum Labs relationship with other Optum Shared Service teams that provide data management and application hosting services. You will be responsible for Product Management, Architecture, Application Engineering, Support, and Data Acquisition roadmaps for Optum Labs. In addition, you will have accountability for Lab Power Tools – applications developed by Optum Labs to assist in the discovery and development of new research and development products. 


Specific responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following: 


  • Managing and leading direct and matrixed teams to build ‘Data as a Product', data and technology architecture, application engineering, content management and level 2 support services 
  • Establishing standards and processes relative to Data Product services 
  • Participating in product strategy and vision activities
  • Shaping and driving the product roadmap and operating model 
  • Collaborating with peers across Optum and our partners to ensure flawless execution 
  • Presenting to cSuite partners and prospects about Optum Lab offerings 
  • Reviewing product performance against expectations 
  • Facilitating/influencing changes to product portfolio to improve competitive position and optimal product performance
  • Partnering with internal and/or external business constituents to determine product future direction and/or respond to product inquiries
  • Driving the evolution of the product over time

Requirements

Required skills:  

  • 5 + years of people management and leadership experiences
  • Proven ability to get results from matrixed, cross-functional teams 
  • Demonstrated understanding of technology, including relational databases and large data sets
  • High emotional intelligence and maturity 
  • Experience developing recommendations around complex issues for c-Suite decision makers
  • Experience delivering technology services to internal or external customers
  • Prior experience establishing repeatable processes that enable teams to exceed expectations
  • Excellent time management, communication, decision making and presentation skills 
  • Track record of working with partners to obtain win-win situations 
  • Relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent experiences

  • Knowledge of data warehouses and data warehouse appliances
  • Knowledge of NoSQL technologies such as Hadoop and MongoDB
