The beautiful NorthPointe Hotel and Conference Center is seeking an experienced Housekeeping Manager. This position is responsible for managing daily Housekeeping Operations in the hotel and public space areas, while ensuring every effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. This person is responsible to provide exemplary customer service and ensure that NorthPointe policies and procedures, as well as generally accepted business principles, are consistently followed. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Daily opening and closing of the Housekeeping Department.
  • Schedules deep cleaning and facilitation of guest rooms and public spaces.
  • Monthly linen and supply inventories and weekly ordering.
  • Ensures guest room status is communicated to the Front Desk in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Inspects guestrooms on a daily basis.
  • Supports and supervises an effective inspection program for all guestrooms and public space areas.
  • Understands the impact of department’s operations on the overall property financial goals and objectives and manages to achieve or exceed budgeted profitability goals.
  • Ensures all employees have proper supplies, equipment and uniforms.
  • Communicates areas that need attention to staff and follows up to ensure understanding.
  • Supervises daily Housekeeping shift operations and ensures compliance with all housekeeping policies, standards and procedures.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and continually communicates a clear and consistent message regarding the departmental goals to produce desired results.
  • Hires, trains, and provides refresher training for all associates.
  • Uses all available on the job training tools to train new room attendants and provide follow-up training as necessary.
  • Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with employees and ensures employees do the same with them.
  • Participation in creating annual budget.
  • Ensuring all fire code and safety requirements are adhered to daily.
  • Schedules employees to business demands and tracks employee time and attendance.
  • Ensures employees understand expectations and parameters.
  • Ensures property policies are administered fairly and consistently, disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and support the Review Process.
  • Supervises staffing levels to ensure that guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives are met.
  • Observes service behaviors of employees and provides feedback to individuals.
  • Participates in an on-going employee recognition program.
  • Solicits employee feedback, utilizes an “open door” policy, and reviews employee satisfaction results to identify and address employee problems or concerns.
  • Participates in employee progressive discipline procedures.
  • Celebrates successes and publicly recognizes the contributions of team members.
  • Sets a positive example for guest relations.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of corrective action plans to improve guest satisfaction.
  • Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service.
  • Emphasizes guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and focuses on continuous improvement.
  • Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints.
  • Strives to improve service performance.
  • Manages relationship with contract labor vendor and daily supervision of their associates to ensure that all NorthPointe standards are met.
  • All other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English a plus!
  • Strong customer service, internal/external.
  • Executive presence.
  • Problem solving skills.

  • Works well under pressure.
  • Experience in Hotel Operating Systems.
  • Excellent eye for detail and able to multi-task.
  • Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
  • Requires good communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.  
  • Position may require lifting lift up to 50 lbs (supplies, furniture, etc.) occasionally.
  • Position requires walking/ standing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to be hands on in the operation and assist the associates when they need assistance, and during tight house turns and demanding business volume days.
  • Ability to build relationships with other departmental managers/associates.
  • Dedication to cross training associates to establish bench strength property wide.
  • Ability to accept, understand, be supportive, and foster teamwork among multiple cultures within the department.

 

  • 4 year degree and/or related work experience relating to Hotel/Housekeeping in supervisory capacity for same amount of time
