We are seeking an experienced IT Program Manager in the Optum Technology Organization supporting Information Systems within the UHG Enterprise. In this highly visible role, the Program Manager will be engaged in leading critical Information Technology projects and programs. Projects will encompass a broad range of corporate services systems with enterprise programs that may run across multiple business lines and the full array of UHG / Optum systems.  




 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Lead large, complex projects to achieve key business objectives

  • Direct cross-functional and/or cross-segment teams

  • Experience in working with software development methodologies as the effort may require integration and alignment of multiple approaches from internal and external software developers

  • Predict emerging customer needs and develops innovative solutions to meet them

  • Participate in the development of business strategy

  • Develop and manages business plans to achieve objectives

  • Solve unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business

  • Translate highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences

  • Adept and experienced managing interactions with senior and executive leadership (VP level and C level)

  • Directing a team of Project Managers & Program Integrators while mentoring their development

  • Solid analytical, problem-solving and financial analysis skills

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years Project Management experience in a large enterprise environment (Fortune 200)

  • 10+ years technical experience in one or more aspects of Information Systems

  • Development or Business / Information Systems areas

  • Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) project management

  • Professional PM methodology trained

  • Budget tracking and complex cost benefit analysis

  • Very strong understanding of distributed technologies & architecture

  • Solid understanding of mainframe technologies and/or Oracle platform

  • Ability to build and manage relationships across a large enterprise

  • C-level interface and presentation skills

  • Ability to influence decisions from top down and bottom up

  • Solid analytical, problem-solving and financial analysis skills

  • Willing and able to work in the Irvine, CA office

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Health care / Pharmacy Benefit Management insurance background

  • PMP Certification

  • Exposure to multiple PM methodologies

  • Process implementation & re-engineering

  • MS Office Professional Suite of applications proficiency

  • MS Excel - pivot table proficiency

  • Big 4 or Professional Services experience
