We currently have many exciting opportunities to work on-site with clients as the State Engagement IT Project Manager. This role will require heavy travel on a regular basis. Candidates must have a successful track record of delivering programs on scope, on time, on budget, on quality and on benefit to clients.


 


 


 



As an IT Healthcare Project Manager within our Optum Technology Delivery organization, you will be accountable for leading IT Project Management of large IT programs serving external clients in the healthcare industry. These roles require heavy travel (95-100%) and candidates can be located anywhere in the U.S. with close proximity to airports.



 


 


 


Primary responsibilities:




  • Leading overall IT and healthcare related engagements/projects/programs to successful completion

  • Owning, end-to-end accountability for program delivery

  • Engaging with client leadership to ensure proper expectation setting

  • Partnering with stakeholders (internal and external to Optum) to ensure proper strategy, plan, alignment, integration and visibility

  • Driving consensus and decision-making with business, IT and executive management

  • Influencing senior leaders to balance competing priorities

  • Leading matrixed teams to common solutions

  • Maintaining visibility on day-to-day activities with project teams and ensuring sufficient face-time with key executive stakeholders

  • Providing status reporting to internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis

  • Managing program financials

  • Mitigating risks and addressing program/project obstacles as needed

  • Leading, coaching, managing and mentoring program and project managers

Requirements

Required Qualifications:




  • 8+ years of IT and healthcare project or program management experience

  • 5+ years in a consulting environment where you were on-site with clients evaluating technical issues and helping them drive solutions following PM methodology process.

  • Proven track record of leading enterprise scale, complex programs successfully

  • Previous matrix people leadership and management skills, including direct experience leading, managing and mentoring teams of project and program managers

  • Location in U.S. near any major airport with the ability to travel 95-100% of the time to client sites


 




Preferred Qualifications:


 



  • Experiences leading programs in the healthcare domain preferred

  • Prior experience working for a professional services consulting firm desired

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experiences; advanced degree preferred

  • Strong knowledge of Agile development methodology

  • Demonstrated ability to manage the details of programs/projects in order to drive them to fruition, if required

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, team building and relationship management skills

  • Ability to communicate technology matters to business partners, senior executives, and strategic partners

  • Proven experience interfacing in the cSuite of large organizations

  • Successful in obtaining results in a large corporate, matrixed environment

  • Capable of gaining support for initiatives through influence and use of business rationale

  • Proven ability to make and implement tough decisions
