Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Graymont is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join the staff in managing the Pilot Peak Plant. Pilot Peak is located in West Wendover Nevada and consists of three rotary kilns and a hydrator. The Maintenance Supervisor will manage a staff consisting of a maintenance planner, reliability specialist, purchaser, warehouse person, seven maintenance employees and two electricians. The Maintenance Supervisor will work closely with the quarry and kiln departments to ensure the highest possible equipment availability. The Maintenance Supervisor is expected to produce measurable results in Safety/Environmental/Quality/Productivity and Financial performance through the effective and efficient implementation of reliability centered maintenance (RCM).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful applicant is expected to take a hands on approach and will be responsible for the following:

    • Ensure the highest standards are achieved and maintained in terms of safety, environmental performance, quality, and efficiency in our drive to become World Class.  
    • Safely manage all maintenance functions of the Plant and Quarry- Responsibilities include: Quarry surface mobile fleet and stationary crushing and screening equipment to the Kiln stationary, rotating and product handling equipment including responsibility over all electrical maintenance on the plant.
    • Establish, communicate and assign job responsibilities, goals and performance standards for employees within the maintenance department.
    • Collaborate and coordinate with other department supervisors regarding maintenance projects and priorities.
    • Review, plan, schedule and supervise all maintenance repairs and preventative maintenance activities throughout the plant.
    • Responsible for the development and execution of major shutdown schedules.
    • Plan, organize and supervisor the work of contractors, as required, for specific repairs.
    • Actively support and lead the Graymont Maintenance and Production Uptime Strategy (MAPUS) initiative and vision, the operating rhythm, safety and environmental programs.
    • Perform daily site inspection of operations by carrying out plant safety, maintenance and operation inspections and discussing maintenance requirements with supervisors.
    • Adhere to the strictest safety procedures and make recommendations for improvements when necessary.
    • Additional work hours will be required, from time to time, outside of the normal work week.
Qualifications

    • Proven track record of developing and maintaining a safe work culture.
    • A College degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial Engineering) or a Journeyman Millwright with an equivalent combination of education and experience in a heavy industrial setting and with proven supervisory experience.   
    • Demonstrated leadership and teambuilding ability with strong people skills combined with the ability to coach, motivate, train and develop others.
    • Excellent communication skills including listening, written and oral.
    • A strong commitment to preventative and reliability centered maintenance.
    • Proven history of successful change implementation with results.
    • Passionate in the pursuit of implementing process and system improvements.
    • Self-directed, results oriented and highly motivated requiring minimal direct guidance.
    • Strong organizational skills and proven experience managing multiple priorities.
    • A high level of computer skills (JDE, Excel and Microsoft Office) and capable of learning new applications.
    • Knowledge of the JD Edwards (Oracle) or similar systems.
