About this job

POSITION PURPOSE: To provide assistance to the Association's Engineering and Operations Departments on an as needed basis two (2) days a week.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Working under supervision:

1. Utilizes Excel to organize data for analysis.
2. Assists in preparing, field verifying and maintaining the Association's mapping systems.
3. Provides hard copy and electronic maps and drawings for internal and external needs.
4. Provides assistance to the Field Engineering Representatives by assisting in staking operations, drawings and other work order preparation.
5. Research documents, contracts, data bases, permits, easements as directed.
6. Assists with GPS mapping of existing and new facilities.
7. Files or scans work orders, maps, contracts, etc.
8. Maintains proper work area and environment.
9. Assists in the emergency restoration of facilities during storm or general outages.
10. Works according to the safety rules and company policies, as adopted by Poudre Valley REA. Responsible for personal safety and reports all accidents in accordance with the Association policy.
11. Performs other duties in his or her scope of abilities as assigned.


MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED: General office equipment, personal/networked computers, printers, plotters, facsimile machines, two-way radios, drafting, surveying, and engineering equipment, computers, testing equipment, automobiles and pickups.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be able to work with all departments of the Association, outside consultants, licensing and regulatory agencies, other utilities,

member consumers, supporting agencies and government agencies with which the Association has contact.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, skill and abilities needed: Must have knowledge of drafting, mapping and geospatial software. Must be familiar with land descriptions, local, state and federal geo-databases and availability of information systems. Must be able to work with others to provide a safe, efficient and cooperative work environment. Must have sufficient mathematic, algebra and trigonometry training. Must be able to acquire knowledge of the system and the territory of the Association.
Education and/or formal training needed: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience needed: Drafting, surveying or mapping is preferred.

Physical: Upon receipt of a job offer, candidate must pass a physical examination (which may include a Work Step physical) that verifies that there is no physical reason that he or she cannot perform the essential functions of the job under the working conditions described.

Drug/Alcohol: A drug/alcohol test is administered to all job offer recipients, as well as a background check.

Mental Demands needed: This employee must be able to work well with the public, Association members, and other Association employees. He/she needs to be able to remember what was done during interactions with the public and Association members and employees and schedule and prioritize future work. He/she must be able to learn new procedures and equipment, and demonstrate flexibility in all areas. The job may occasionally require ingenuity, problem solving, analytic ability, auditory discrimination, writing ability and imagination. This job can be stressful at times; however, composure must be maintained at all times with consumers and co-workers.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Must meet essential functions of the position including, the requirements of the Work Step physical.

2. This employee spends approximately 20% of the day walking, 20% of the day standing and 60% of the day sitting at a desk (percentages will vary depending on the work to be accomplished).

3. Sitting, repetitive motions, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and reaching.

4. Long periods of time will be spent viewing computer screens and hard copy of drawings, maps and special projects.

5. This employee may be required to move equipment that may weigh as much as 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The work environment this employee works in will be primarily general office conditions to outside job site conditions. This employee must be able to tolerate noise levels up to 50 decibels.
