THE POSITION

The payroll processor is responsible for compiling, posting, and making changes to employee time records, payroll data, and benefit paperwork.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A high school diploma or equivalent;
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience processing payroll.
  • Knowledge of payroll processing and systems; mathematical concepts (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and percentages) and their application; basic understanding of medical, dental, and vision benefits; proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel & PowerPoint);
  • Ability to compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, or verify information or data; pay attention to detail; read and comprehend instructions and information in the English language; work well with the public; communicate in a professional manner on the phone, internet and in person; and use standard office equipment.


WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
  • Compiles and computes payroll data such as hours worked; bonuses and commissions; monies to be withheld from taxes; employee contributions to retirement plans and insurance premiums and other records such as garnishments, direct deposits, and W-4 changes.
  • Polls electronic time clock and reviews the downloaded information for completeness and accuracy.
  • Contacts managers regarding any unapproved time cards or issues.
  • Records and issues adjustments to pay related to previous errors or retroactive increases.
  • Prepares and issues paychecks.
  • Builds periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
  • Prepares/files all hiring and termination paperwork.
  • Records employee information, such as exemptions, transfers, and resignations, in order to maintain and update payroll records.
  • Provides information to employees and managers on payroll matters and, tax issues.
  • Completes requests for V.O.E., Garnishments, and Court orders.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll process.
  • Maintains and updates employee files.
  • Maintains records for vacation and sick-day eligibility.
  • Assists in all other areas of the payroll department and performs other specific administrative functions as needed.
  • Maintains high ethical standards in all actions.
  • Maintains a professional appearance at all times.
