Description

The Loss Prevention Coordinator will oversee the protection of company assets in assigned stores. This individual will be responsible for ensuring all Loss Prevention programs designed to minimize inventory shortages are properly executed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Must be able to successfully complete all phases of the Loss Prevention certification program.
  • Will partner with Store Management to oversee the performance of Contracted Security and Law Enforcement personnel (if applicable in his/her store).
  • Conduct monthly Loss Prevention Associate Awareness Training for all newly hired associates. This includes reviewing operational practices relating to the reduction of waste as well as demonstrating all Loss Prevention tools and equipment used by Store Management to detect, investigate, and resolve theft.
  • Become proficient and train Store Management in the use of all physical security equipment to include alarm system, CCTV, POS monitoring etc. Become proficient in operating and utilizing equipment for investigative purposes and monitoring of store controls.
  • Assist Store Management in the implementation and review of front-end and POS reporting tools including Front Line Performance, ESCAPE, Shrink Trax, and any other applicable POS related tools.
  • Have a thorough understanding of Harris Teeter's shoplifting directives (6 steps) and after completion of the certification program will intercede in theft situations to minimize losses.
  • Ensure Store Management has a thorough understanding of Harris Teeter's Shoplifting Directives (6 steps).
  • Perform Loss Prevention audits as directed to include DSD, warehouse truck seals, front-end, scan audits, and overnight surveillances.
  • Perform weekly DSD audits of the Vendors and Vendor Receivers ensuring invoices match actual product delivered and that policy violations are reported to Store Management.
  • Assist Store Management with Safety Improvement Team meetings designed to minimize customer and associate accidents.
  • Actively participate and assist in store inventories to include perishable and non-perishable.
  • As directed, assist Loss Prevention Specialist with high-waste investigations.
  • Observe, document, and report incidents involving acts of associate dishonesty.
  • Observe, document, and report incidents involving acts of professional shoplifting.
  • When required, testify in criminal court proceedings on behalf of Harris Teeter.
  • Adhere to all Harris Teeter policies, including attendance and punctuality, dress code, meals, etc.
  • Strong investigative, fact finding and interviewing skills.
Other duties as may be assigned or required.

Education/Experience:
Must possess one or a combination of the following: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Criminal Justice, Accounting, Business Administration or Political Science; two years of direct experience in Retail Loss Prevention

Language Ability:
Must be able to fluently speak and write in English. Possesses ability to read and accurately interpret documents such as audit standards, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write complex reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of associates.

Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, quantity and dollar variances. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and statistics.

Reasoning Ability:
Uses good judgment to seek assistance when necessary to do so given the task or situation encountered. Possesses the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Practical Skills:
Has a strong working knowledge of store operations to include Cash Office, Front-end, DSD processes and Inventory Control.

Computer Skills:
Must have prior experience with Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must be proficient with data entry and be able to complete basic formulas such as addition, subtraction and division when working with spreadsheets.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities, however may be called upon for indirect supervision of loss prevention or store personnel, outside inventory counters and management during inventories and various other situations.

The associate must be willing to travel with consecutive overnight stays up to 50% of the time. The associate be willing to relocate if necessary, both at the time of job acceptance and in the future based on Harris Teeter's needs. The associate must be willing and able to frequently work for long periods of time which could exceed an eight hour shift. The associate must be available and willing to work weekends and holidays as necessary.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to quiet.
