Optometric Assistant - Full-time / Part-time

Responsible for assisting the doctor with providing a thorough visual examination by performing preliminary testing, support duties, and post exam follow-up.

Additional Job Information:

Perform visual preliminary testing, including visual screening, blood pressure, and tonometer. (Auto refraction and auto keratometer done at applicable offices.)

Set patient up in exam room by documenting patient medications and pre-setting phoroptor.

Escort patient out of exam room, setting up recall and transfer authority to eyewear consultant.

Educate patients on contact lens handling, wearing schedule, care and importance of owning prescription glasses. Assists patients with contact lens questions and replacement lenses. View and assess patient contact lens follow up visits and fittings.

Accurately and efficiently schedule appointments and complete and maintain patient files. Maintains contact lens and supply inventory.

Interpret a doctor's prescription and suggest products and enhancements to address specific prescription requirements

Answer and address customer concerns and questions. When unable to address customer's questions, direct them to the appropriate source. Handle multiple customers effectively with tact and a sense of urgency.
