About this job

SUMMARY
To serve meals to patrons in dining establishment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • All employees are required to assist any customer or potential customer in a prompt, courteous, friendly, and helpful manner at all times.
  • Adheres to all state safety, sanitation and health standards and regulations.
  • Perform general cleaning using specified safe cleaning supplies and immediately cleans up any spills.
  • Serves food using proper service etiquette.
  • Knowledgeable with all menu items, proper preparation methods, and plate presentations.
  • Presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions to guests regarding food and service.
  • Writes order on check or memorizes it.
  • Relays order to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and service bars.
  • Ensure that target service times are met and that all finished orders are served to guests immediately.
  • Garnishes and decorates dishes before serving according to restaurant specifications.
  • Observes diners and responds to any additional requests to ensure a smooth and continuously improving operation.
  • Be familiar with facilities, services, location, and operating hours to assist guests.
  • Totals bill and refers patrons to Cashier or accepts payment using manual or point of sales system.
  • Ensure opening and closing duties assigned to your work station are completed.
  • Ladles soup, tosses salads, portions pies and desserts, brews coffee, and performs other services as determined by establishment's size and practices.
  • Clears and resets counters or tables at conclusion of each course.
  • Resets and restocks server stations based upon business demands.
  • Maintains restaurant's appearance, cleanliness, and safe sanitation guidelines at all times.
  • Abides by all state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests and hours of operation.
