POSITION PURPOSE

At Le Pain Quotidien, a retailer is often the first impression of our restaurant and the main point of contact for our guests.  Le Pain Quotidien retailers exist to create exceptional organic coffee drinks and provide exemplary service at our retail counter.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gives great first impressions by promptly greeting and creating meaningful connections with everyone who walks through our doors
  • Preps batches for retail counter by following drink job aides
  • Prepares all drinks for retail and dining room
  • Has full knowledge of pastry, bread, kitchen, and retail items.  Is able to describe every product and menu offering using descriptor words.  Is able to use knowledge to sell items and make educated suggestions to our guests.
  • Understands throughput and speed of service
  • Understands deployment of three key positions – Ringer, Backer, and Barista
  • Properly bags, boxes, and arranges to-go food and pastries
  • Maintains and consolidates pastry display throughout the day appropriately for day part
  • Handles sales transactions at retail counter by operating Micros; follows Le Pain Quotidien cash handling policy
  • Responsible for answering the phone with proper etiquette; takes orders over the phone
  • Handles any complaints with genuine concern and elevates to manager when necessary
  • Completes all opening, mid, and closing procedures; responsible for restocking and completing waste log
  • Follows and completes Le Pain Quotidien cleaning and food safety checklists to ensure proper food handling; responsible for troubleshooting,  cleaning and maintenance of equipment, FIFO, thermometers, Food Safety checklist, and temperature checklist
  • Keeps all areas of the restaurant clean and organized by following cleaning checklists, assisting with cleaning dishes, cleaning kitchen equipment, cleaning bathrooms,  trash removal, and detail cleaning as necessary; assists with setting up patio furniture and maintenance of outside fixtures and seating area
  • Greets and seats guests as needed

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED; or 1 to 3 months of related experience or training.
  • Flexibility in schedule with the ability to work early mornings, weekends, and evenings
  • Experience with Micros is a plus
