JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
With relation to current production schedule, will help coordinate pouch packaging crew, setting equipment parameters and performing various product quality inspections. Employee will be responsible for the day to day operation and upkeep of the case erector, case sealer, case coder, checkweigher, palletizer system. Maintain effective communication with production supervisor, production line lead, filler, batcher and QC personnel.

Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ITEM TIME JOB FUNCTIONS

1. 35% Coordinate crew assignments, ensuring position rotation throughout shift. Operates, setup and monitor packaging equipment: case coders, checkweighers, palletizer, carton former and sealer in accordance with specific product MSP.

2. 30% Measure internal pouch temperature, seal integrity, water temperature and chemical tests. Complete packaging reports, end of run, re-work and reprocessing documentation in accordance with SOP's. Complete weekly sanitation tasks and documentation. Ensure crew follows GMP's and enforces safety. Monitor glue levels, chlorine levels, manual labeled cases, and fiber usage for cost reduction and to minimize downtime and loss of production. Monitor rework to make sure that it is cut according to procedures and within the allotted time limits, monitor reprocessing to minimize the loss of product. Employee shall ensure completion of all associated paperwork with rework and reprocessing included, at the end of their shift.

3. 25% Assign and relieve crewmembers for breaks, and meal periods. Provide on the job training for new and temporary employees

4. 10% Perform other duties as needed or assigned by supervisor

POSITION DIMENSIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Internal Contacts:
Production supervisor, sauce packaging crew, sauce batch and filler operators, temporary personnel and QC/QA

Education Level and Focus:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred

Years and Type of Related Experience Required:
Production line experience preferred

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Interpersonal and Communication:
Ability to function with minimal supervision, including the capacity to follow verbal and written instruction, team player, ability to speak and write English. Ability to direct crew members to achieve efficiencies and maintain open communications

Technical and Analytical:
Ability to count accurately, attention to detail

Administrative and Operations:
Ability to read labels and codes on boxes and product

Physical Demands:
Agile, ability to stand for long periods of time, reaching, bending, lift 40+ lbs, pushing, pulling, stretching

Work Environment:
Food plant operating 24 hours a day 5-6/days a week, cold, hot and humid ambient conditions, wet/dry floors, high noise levels, moving machinery, forklift and pedestrian traffic

Special Equipment Used:
Forklift, thermometers, scales, case forming and sealing machines, palletizer, glue pots and machines, case packer, tape sealing machines, label machines. Communication radios
