With minimum direction from the Industry Relations Data and Reporting Manager and leaders from matrixed departments (including Specialty Pharmacy Operations, Industry Relations Business Development, Accounting and IT, etc.), the Business Analyst is responsible for developing requirements and test cases, validating development code against contract, requirements, and test cases , setting up and following through on data governance and electronic exchanges with external partners, analyzing data or report issues, developing root cause analysis or summery of finding documentation, and collaborating and communicating closely with internal functional departments and external partners.  In addition, Business Analysts are expected to extract data through SQL and other reporting tools so that analysis of data and reporting issues can commence. 

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Set-up Account and Data Exchange – Leads the account set-up and maintenance for data governance (DRB) and electronic information exchange (ECG).
  • Business Requirements – Facilitate meetings, read and understand legal contract information, and develop insightful questions to clarify requirements to produce requirement documentation.  Work with clients (internal and external) to insure that information needs are understood, document requirements, work with IT to develop specifications, and provide the appropriate analysis, research, to address and document requirement needs.  Obtain necessary approval signatures.
  • Test Cases – Develop test cases based on Requirements or Specifications documentation.  
  • Test Execution – Test system code to ensure that requirements and specifications are met and ensure that test cases pass.  Obtain necessary approval signatures.
  • Create Documentation – Responsible for documentation of data dictionary, business processes, training, procedures, and work instructions.  Document meeting sessions with minutes and action items.  Share responsibility for and maintain department reporting inventory, including report content and distribution of data and reports both internally and externally.
  • Ad-hoc Queries – Ability to write SQL queries and access data warehouse to support customer data requests and confirm production report logic.
  • Analytical Summaries – Identify actionable issues through data interpretation and research and provide summary of trends, observations, and actionable tasks on standard, ad hoc, audit and new development reports.  Ability to perform root cause analysis of process and system problems pre- and post-implementation and for existing production processes and systems.  Ability to recommend solutions to prevent problem recurrence.  
  • Communication Skillset - Must possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical staff.  Ability to interact with and present to Senior Leadership.  Ability to deal with all employees and external business contacts while conveying a positive, service oriented attitude.  Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in business relationships. Must be comfortable communicating with manufacturers, vendors, and customers.  
  • Professional Development – Participate in available training programs and maintain an individual training/education strategy with immediate supervisor.
  • Maturity – Provides a stabilizing influence during periods of organization change.  Implements change with a positive attitude and impact.  Avoids emotional involvement and copes constructively with emotions.  
  • Other Duties – Provide other assistance as designated by the Manager of Industry Relations Data and Reports to support the overall goals of the department and organization.  Ability to develop presentation material for leadership and team members.  
  • Strategic Plan – In coordination with Department management, specific elements of the Company's Strategic Plan will be identified as focus areas for this Business Analyst position and will be included as Business Analyst responsibilities.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree or High School Diploma/GED and 4+ years equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in Business Analysis.
  • Experience gathering requirements from the client/business and documenting.
  • Experience with process improvement, workflow, bench-marking and / or evaluation of business processes.
  • Proficiency with PC based software programs and automated database management systems required (Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of relational databases, database structures.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Cognos.
  • Healthcare Industry experience.
  • UHG experience.
  • SQL Experience IIBA Member.
