JOB SUMMARY

Manages and coordinates catering activities and services to create smooth execution of all conventions, functions and events requiring food and beverage services. Plans and develops programs, agendas, and services according to client requirements. Provides client satisfaction through the smooth execution of all assigned catering functions and events. Verifies that all specifications are implemented and executed to established guidelines. Inspects assigned functions prior to event to verify they adhere to all client specifications.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED; 2 years' experience in hospitality, event management, food and beverage, or related professional area.

OR

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Hospitality Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; no experience necessary.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Managing Catering Activities

Manages and coordinates catering activities associated with planning, supervising and executing conventions, functions and events.

Plans and develops programs, agendas, and services according to client requirements.

Communicates all client specifications to the appropriate operational departments.

Provides client satisfaction through the smooth execution of all assigned catering functions and events as measured by pre and post event survey data.

Inspects assigned functions prior to event to verify they adhere to all client specifications.

Supporting Profitability and Revenue Goals

Achieves budgeted food and beverage revenues for assigned groups as measured by average check and revenue per occupied group room.

Manages function space, exhibit hall and overall event space use according to established guidelines to create room to space ratios and event profitability.

Maintains and demonstrates strong knowledge of food, beverage and general trends within the hospitality industry.

Implementing Policies and Procedures

Forecasts group revenues according to established guidelines.

Develops and distributes banquet event orders according to established guidelines.

Verifies that all specifications are implemented and executed to established guidelines.

Managing and Conducting Human Resources Activities

Interviews, selects and trains associates.

Provides for the safety and security of the associates or the property.

Monitors employee attendance and records absences/tardiness.

Helps direct supervisors to achieve their own development goals.

Conducts annual performance appraisal with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.
