Senior Vice President, Strategic Client Relationships - Optum 360 - New York City or Long Island, NY


 


This leader is primarily responsible for ensuring effective relationships with each client that further the strategic objectives of both Optum360 and the client. This position is responsible for understanding and delivering on the requirements in the MSA for the clients and working across the Optum360 organization to influence decisions that drive desired outcomes. This position will sit on the Governance Committee for the client as well as the ELT of Optum360.  This leader will be the primary owner of the Client Relationships with the Sr. Executives of the Client and will be responsible to ensure the full value of the relationship is delivered to both the Client and Optum360. 


 


This position will assist with designing and advocating for strategies that work to honor and strengthen the goals, values and mission of the Optum360.  Success is highly dependent upon strategic collaboration with key clients and stakeholders. Further, the success also depends on effective partnership, influence, and collaboration across various functions of Optum360, including but not limited to: Operations, Managed Services, Professional Services, Technology Solutions, Compliance, Marketing, Finance, and HR.


 


The Senior Vice President, Strategic Client Relationships primary responsibility will be to build and manage the relationship with Optum360 clients to deliver strategic outcomes for both Optum360 and the client. The individual's success depends on the ability to maintain deep knowledge of the details of the agreements with the client and proactively negotiate and influence stakeholders on decisions and solutions that deliver solid outcomes and service.  Additionally, the individual must collaborate with, provide direction to, and support the Client Site Leaders and delivery leadership in Managed Services to ensure alignment in the delivery of services and outcomes to each client. This will include the following dimensions:



  • Business / Market Strategy: Understand and clearly articulate the needs of our existing clients and potential clients. This includes understanding market size, sales cycle dynamics, competitive landscape, strategy and clients buying behavior

  • Strategic Collaboration/Partnership with Managed Services & Technology Solutions: Work with Professional Services and Technology Solutions team to develop a business strategy that maximizes value for Optum360, and work with Client Site Executives to ensure strategic alignment, set rules-of-the-road for how the Managed and Professional Services as well as Technology Solutions engage, resolve conflicts/issues

  • Voice of the Customer: Keep the organization informed of client needs, product requirements, competitive information, account specific initiatives and other knowledge essential for our business efforts.  Push the organization to act to deliver capabilities that enable growth

  • Department Responsibilities: develop annual growth plans, manage budgets, manage Client based P&Ls, review structure, and establish clear management process and expectations to deliver results

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Building a team that is capable of managing large strategic clients

  • Implementing the components required to meet the MSA terms like: Service Level design and reporting, Governance processes, Change Control processes, all Fees and pricing, etc.

  • Understanding the strategic marketplace and helping to create Optum360s competitive value proposition for strategic clients

  • Responsible for building relationships with key client executives to understand and deliver on their business challenges

  • Responsible for understanding all aspects of the agreements defined in relationship with client and managing expectations, facilitating any changes to the measures that drive the outcomes of the agreements, and working with the client executives to find solutions that deliver on both the client and Optum360 strategies

  • Works in collaboration with the Site Executives in the Managed Services to understand the needs of the client, work to find new and improved solutions to meet their needs, and deliver excellent customer service

  • Collaborates with and seeks to influence leaders across the various functions to deliver effective outcomes, programs and service offerings to align with organizational goals and objectives

  • Develop and manage new client relations including maintaining customer satisfaction

  • Ensure coordination with Technology Solutions to respond to new/ongoing customer needs and future product development

  • Insert supplemental management into local organization and utilize global resources as appropriate

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree

  • 10+ years of experience in client management

  • Demonstrated ability to make strategic, operational and administrative decisions in response to emerging conditions and environmental circumstances

  • Proven ability to analyze complex market opportunities and develop creative solutions to a wide variety of unique market problems; advanced consultative selling skills with the ability to successfully construct solutions

  • Ability to facilitate organizational change through the implementation of new programs and services

  • Ability to provide recommendations and insight regarding improvements to internal and external processes

  • In depth knowledge of client services being managed

  • Ability to manage programs and projects in a strategic and professional manner

  • Excellent communication, leadership, customer service, and problem solving skills

  • Ability to manage and support organizational change and help assist individuals through the transition

  • Capable of interpreting, communicating and executing organizational mission and value concepts to a wide range of organizational and community representatives

  • Sound administrative capabilities and a demonstrated ability to recruit, develop and motivate key personnel

  • Strong people skills with direct experience in successfully managing client facing/growth initiatives within highly matrixed organizations

  • Portrays the organization's mission to improve the health of the people living in the communities served through integration of patient care, research, and education in a caring environment

Preferred Qualifications:



  • MBA or equivalent

  • 3+ years of account management or sales account management experience

  • Experience at a start-up or in a senior client servicing role
