Responsibilities

The goal of the Principal Architect (PA) is to deliver a secure, efficient and effective IT environment through an architecture that supports the customer's business needs. The PA links the customer’s business mission, strategy, and processes to its IT strategy, and documents this using multiple architectural models or views that show how the current and future needs of an organization will be met in an efficient, sustainable, agile, and adaptable manner when incorporating Verizon products/services. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish, drive and socialize the strategic technical vision for data architecture – lead definition and delivery of target state data architecture blue-prints, along with interim states and roadmap to manage customer growth and provide services to its employees and customers.
  • Manage enterprise-wide data architecture functions, working across business areas to understand the customer’s data and networking requirements as it relates to the client’s enterprise data repositories.
  • Build and develop strategic views of emerging technologies for supporting enterprise data needs.
  • Alignment of IT strategy and planning with the customer's business goals by framing proposed Verizon technology designs, and choreograph other related activities into the customer’s larger plan.
  • Optimization of info management by understanding business needs and technology capabilities.
  • Promote shared infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and improve information flows.
  • Provide a solution that is scalable, adaptable and in synchronization with changing business needs.
  • Manage risks associated with information and IT assets
  • Design and define system architecture for new or existing communication networks or components.
  • Perform system modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Develop and conduct tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve system problems
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
  • Develop best practices and guidelines for existing or new technologies that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of IT within the client’s enterprise.
  • Drive best practices broadly and deeply throughout a technical and engineering based organization while able to articulate solution and influence decision makers on technology trends.
  • Provide system/equipment specialized training and technical guidance.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Engineering or Computer Science related discipline or equivalent work experience.  Masters or level education desired.
  • 7+ years’ experience with enterprise data architecture, data modeling, and high volume transaction processing systems, preferably in a Professional Services solutions development environment
  • 5+ years’ experience in design, proposal, solutions development and solutions architecture
  • Strong knowledge of one or more vertical businesses (Public Sector, Retail, Finance, Manufacturing, Utilities, Healthcare, Logistics, etc.) for which the enterprise architecture is being developed.
  • General knowledge in all, and In-depth knowledge and experience in at least (2) of the following required:
    • Unified Communications
    • Contact Center
    • Advanced Networking
    • Cloud
    • Data Center
    • Mobility
    • Security
    • Machine 2 Machine (M2M)/ Internet of Things (IoT)
    • IT Applications Management (SOA, Web Services, RTE)

  • Expertise in data architecture and data information best practices and standards
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of Business Intelligence, Analytics and Big Data tools and techniques
  • Proficiency in the following areas required:
    • Data management and data warehousing concepts
    • Use of commercially available business intelligence technologies
    • Real-time and bulk database loading technologies
    • Distributed systems
  • Proficient in leading data integration and change management
  • Strong background in industry data models and standard protocols
  • Knowledge of financial modeling as it pertains to IT investment
  • Strong presentation skills aimed at aligning technical solutions with business value – white boarding.
  • Strategic systems thinking - the ability to see how parts interact with the whole (big picture thinking)
  • Knowledge of IT governance and operations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering
  • Project and program management planning and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution and consensus-building skills with business and technical groups
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
