The Occupational Health Assistant is responsible for assisting the Occupational Health/Clinical Risk team in coordinating, implementing and documenting the health and safety programs of the company, with specific emphasis on occupational health, infection control and clinical safety programs. This position contributes to company efforts to meet regulatory and accreditation requirements and minimize risk for occupational injury and/or illness, thereby reducing company liability and associated costs.


 


The Occupational Health Assistant position will reside in Minnetonka, Minnesota. 


 


Major responsibilities include:



  • Assigning new employees to appropriate business groups for pre-employment and annual health screening(s)

  • Creating new/acquired business groups in health screening portal

  • Adding new business administrators, assigning/removing access, facilitating ordering and setting up employees in the respirator medical questionnaire system when necessary

  • Running and distributing quarterly reports to businesses to help manage compliance with occupational health program(s)

  • Assisting the Occupational Health team with coordinating providers for occupational health screenings including tuberculosis, respirator clearance physicals and respirator fit-testing

  • Maintaining confidential employee health records including screening results

  • Assisting the Occupational Health team with fielding questions pertaining to occupational health programs including health screenings and respiratory protection

  • Assisting the Occupational Health team with infectious disease case investigation and follow up

  • Assisting the Occupational Health team with documentation associated with employee post-exposure requirements (tracking, follow through, return-to-work, etc.)

  • Assisting with maintaining and updating related company policies in policy center

  • Maintaining various committee meeting minutes, agenda(s), and distribution lists, etc.

  • Assisting with designing and maintaining occupational health intranet site content

  • Filtering day-to-day inquiries and directing to appropriate resource

  • Assisting with initial case documentation in various databases

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • College degree or equivalent work experience

  • 3+ years health care industry experience and/or health insurance experience

  • Knowledge of Public Health and/or Occupational Health such as health screenings, respiratory protection and blood borne pathogens

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong collaborative, relationship and team building skills

  • Well organized to handle numerous tasks

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications:



  • RN or LPN highly preferred
