Job Purpose

Executes on retail business training needs. Works closely with the retail leaders, clients and internal talent development Instructional Designers to drive divisional training projects from start to finish. Assesses the training needs of retail teams through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, or consultation with managers, instructors, or customer representatives. Evaluate training materials prepared by instructors, such as outlines, text, and handouts.

Job Responsibilities
  • Partner with retail business and client leaders and Talent Development to scope divisional training projects.
  • Analyze retail team training needs, to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs in partnership with retail clients and ASM.
  • Develop testing and evaluation procedures in partnership with Talent Development.


Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent required, advanced degree preferred.
  • 3+ years Training/Learning/Development experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong initiative and self-directed, ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and motivational skills.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Travel Requirements 30% of time on an annualized basis.

Position Summary
  • Executes on divisional training projects related to retail business training needs.
  • Works closely with the retail leaders, clients and internal talent development Instructional Designers to drive divisional training projects from start to completion; including needs analysis, project management, facilitation and solution implementation and evaluation
  • Assess the training needs of retail teams through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, or consultation with managers, instructors, or customer representatives
  • Present information, using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures.
  • Evaluate training materials prepared by instructors, such as outlines, text, and handouts.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Partner with retail business and client leaders and Talent Development to scope out divisional training projects.
  • Analyze retail team training needs, to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs in partnership with retail clients and ASM
  • Develop project timelines and manage to them
  • Determines cost effective training approaches to meet the geographical challenges of providing learning programs in a variety of locations
  • Partner with Talent Development Instructional Designer to utilize encompass to provide support to all training and to better evaluate progress of learners
  • Contributes to design documents and storyboards for e-learning projects, for both systems and non-systems content.
  • Builds Level 2 and Level 3 assessments linked to the learning objectives, under the direction of Talent Development Managers.
  • Conduct evaluations and analyze metrics for programs; provide reports on project metrics
  • Provide regular project updates to retail business leaders and Talent Development
  • Ensure projects stay within timelines, budgets, and scope
  • Partner with other Talent Department leaders to ensure an integrated and coordinated team approach in providing learning solutions
  • Develop testing and evaluation procedures in partnership with Talent Development

Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

Education Level: (Required) Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience



Field of Study/Area of Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in Training/Learning/Development
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS)


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to gather data, to compile information, and prepare reports
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines
  • Strong prioritization skills
  • Ability to make oral presentations
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers

Field / Administrative Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office, field, retail store, or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: engage in considerable physical activity, ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds, stand on feet for long periods of time, use products or cook food as appropriate for the demonstration, and may be required to work in extremely cold conditions (i.e. refrigerated and freezer sections). Also required to travel and drive. The use of proper safety practices when handling the products and/or cooking is essential.
