Job Description: Day to Day expect compliance for Import business. Summary Directs and coordinates program activities designed to ensure reasonable care and a high level of import and export compliance is maintained on behalf of CUI. Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for the Post Entry Audit process for Customs entry documentation (7501)
  • Audits sample quantity of entries per month oFiles PEAs with Customs as necessary
  • Responsible for the Pre Entry Audit process for all FedEx entries through Global Trade Data and the FedEx CPA program.
  • Updates/assigns HTS classification as needed
  • Responsible for maintaining records according to 19 CFR 163 Recordkeeping regulations.
  • Acts as the first point of contact for all Customs inquiries
  • Responds to all CF28, CF29, CF4647 Customs notices
  • Maintains and updates the corporate Import Compliance Manual
  • Ensures that Assists and correct transaction value are declared on 7501s
  • Manages CUI's C-TPAT program.
  • Oversee C-TPAT portion of the new vendor approval process
  • Annual Security Profile Review
  • Annual 5 Step Risk Assessments
  • New employee training/annual training
  • Oversee/coordinate vendor on-site visits
  • Updates the C-TPAT manual as needed
  • Manages the validation process
  • Responsible for ongoing management and communication to the VP of Operations relevant trade information changes (trade laws, country and entity restrictions and sanctions, Free Trade Agreements, ITAR, HTS, duty recovery, etc)
  • Manages Duty Drawback and other duty recovery such as 9802 return provisions on RMA units
  • Manages external Customs brokers and Customs consultants
  • Manages CUI's Business Partner Screening Process
  • Communicates with freight forwarders regarding documentation for brokerage/clearance to ensure CUI shipments meet U.S. Customs requirements
  • Contributes to maintaining the CUI Shipping Instructions Guide
  • Willingness to engage in continuing education primarily focused on trade compliance.
  • Provides a weekly update on all above responsibilities to the Vice President of Operations and quarterly to the Management Review Team

Potential Additional Role and Responsibility: Former employee in the role took on the Quality Management System/Auditing. The manager is looking for this candidate to take on this role. This may not be something a person has done before with the compliance background. Expectation is they will learn it. Description below:

  • Assists in the management of CUI's Quality Management System
  • Helps CUI maintain its ISO 9001 Certificate of Registration
  • Regularly reviews and evaluates the conformance of CUI's QMS to the ISO 9001, CUI, customer, and all other requirements oIs a member of the CUI Internal Audit Team
  • Contributes to Quarterly Management Review Meetings as needed

Work Environment: Corporate Office Environment. Business casual. Current role has been opened for the past few months. John is currently running the program in the intern.

Qualifications:

  • To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and their policies and compliance programs
  • Experience working with ACE (Automated Commercial Environment)
  • Knowledge of the U.S. Customs clearance process
  • Knowledge of HTSUS (Harmonized Tariff System of the US) and 19 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations)
  • Knowledge of C-TPAT (Customs - Trade Partnership Against Terrorism)

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software

Performance Expectations: Import is a bigger portion of the job now but want to increase their export scope. US import compliance is huge to this job and CBP (customs and border protection). Looking for candidates with C-TPAT but not required. Not a deal breaker.
