Summary

Sr. Director Analytics

The Analytics and Planning Director serves as the analytic lead and expert within the Strategic Planning and Insights team. This analytics guru will be serving in a consultative strategic function (internal and external clients) in developing and executing analytical projects which create compelling marketing stories and provide strategic recommendations that deliver measurable client business impact. They possess an in-depth experience in creating customer and shopper insights, designing efficient & effective marketing programs and measuring the performance of integrated marketing programs (across both the offline and digital activations.) The ability to report/evaluate promotional events and Shopper Marketing ROI analysis, and provide recommendations based on results is critical. In additional to post event analysis, the Analytics and Planning Director is required to proactively identify opportunities, develop findings and recommendations and communicate results in a persuasive and easily understandable way possessing excellent written and oral presentation skills.

Position Summary

The Analytics and Planning Director serves as the analytic lead and expert within the Strategic Planning and Insights team. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage and deliver analytic support to the agency client teams including brand and retailer specific analysis and recommendations. Educate client and agency partners and provide guidance on analytics best practices for program design and measurement
  • Work with agency leadership in the development of new analytical products as well construct of analytics team roles, responsibilities and in order to deliver greatest client value.
  • Think proactively and strategically about challenges being faced by brands and mine extensive databases to create value added insights and recommendations which drive incremental programming
  • Perform simple to complex data analysis as required to meet the client’s analytical needs. Develop & deliver simple, impactful presentations which demonstrate value to the client. Participate in the efficient & effective campaign development which maximizes ROI for the client.
  • Work with Agency partners to build strong, collaborative relationships with client’s Brand Management and Market Research teams.

Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources

Indirect Reports

May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Travel and/or Driving Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level: (Required) Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience



Field of Study/Area of Experience: Business, Marketing, Communications or equivalent job-related experience
  • 8+ years of experience in category management, sales, marketing or related experience in a consumer packaged goods (CPG) environment
  • Minimum five years of experience in a quantitative marketing position in a data mining and predictive modeling role.
  • Mastery of IRI or Nielsen Syndicated Data platforms (POS & Panel), and other syndicated research data tools to inform strategy; proven ability to derive insight with actionable recommendations through data.
  • Direct client interaction and account management experience


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Knowledge and use of syndicated POS and panel data as a means to answer business/marketing questions
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills, demonstrating acumen for thinking on both a macro and micro level
  • Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate complex information so it is easily understood.
  • Proven success in their ability to work independently and within collaborative work environments
  • Engaged and passionate, innately curious individual
  • Strong attention to detail with high level organizational and coordination skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, adjusting priorities, and meeting deadlines
  • Maturity and judgment to represent the agency and client in a polished, intelligent manner
  • Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint ability for effective data analysis and presentation
  • Hands on experience with SAS and SQL.

Office / Sedentary Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
