What You'll Be Doing:
- Leads, documents and communicates the architectural design of software applications.
- Participates in all phases of the development lifecycle including analysis, design, development, testing, code reviews, documentation and support.
- Responsible for identifying and disseminating information about new and reusable technical assets to the development team and ensuring these assets are properly integrated and deployed.
- Responsible for escalating technical decisions that affect architectural strategy to other software, infrastructure and enterprise architects and driving resolution.
- Participates in the development and integration of architectural-level components.
- Engages in the definition, development, communication and implementation of standards, processes and procedures for the department with focus on increased quality and efficiency
- Builds & maintains in-depth product, portfolio & project knowledge to provide strategic consultation on definition/design of business functions.
- Analyzes application portfolio for standards compliance, technical deficiencies/opportunities, feasibility, cost, risk, etc. and recommends solutions for improvement.
- Proactively identifies, evaluates, selects & markets opportunities to apply new technologies with focus on long-term compatibility and flexibility.
- Consults with leadership on establishment of priorities, advising on (e.g.) opportunities for application consolidation/retirement, options, risks, cost vs. benefits and impact to other systems.
- Collaborates with other software architects to develop cross-functional application solutions that combine knowledge of business processes and technical options.
- Prepares and delivers informal and formal presentations to team, department, senior management, etc.
What You Need to Bring to the Table:
- Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
- Bachelor's Degree along with seven (7+) years of experience in full software development lifecycle, from requirements capture through post-deployment support; or Master's Degree along with three (3+) years of experience in full software development lifecycle, from requirements capture through post-deployment support.
- Minimum of 5 years development experience using Java / J2EE and related development tools, including: Struts 1 & 2, Spring MVC / Spring IOC / Spring AOP, HTML / CSS, JavaScript, Java Server Pages, Web Services, JDBC, Hibernate, Ant, XML, XSL / XSLT, Git Hub, Maven, Spring Data JPA, Memcached, Liquibase, Spring Batch and JUnit.
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience successfully leading the design and implementation of medium to large-sized software applications.
- Deep knowledge of Eclipse IDE and Java / J2EE frameworks including security, transactions, exception handling and persistence.
- Working knowledge of Tomcat, Linux, Unix, Oracle and MySQL.
- Experience with SQL and design of logical data model.
- Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) principles and related tools including integrating enterprise systems with ESB or related technologies.
- Familiarity with Rich Internet Applications (RIA) containers such as AJAX.
- Strong problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to learn, deploy, and coach others in new technologies and development skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of project management principles.
- Must be able to familiarize self with departmental product portfolio, tools and processes.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation experience and coordination skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.
