Job Description

  • A Ted’s Montana Grill Server Assistant is a fundamental member of our Front-of-the-House team.
  • A Server Assistant is the first and last impression for our guests. A Server Assistant is responsible for welcoming our Guests, seating them, giving them a warm farewell by thanking them and inviting them to return.
  • The Server Assistant enhances the Guest experience by assisting the Team Members in Guest Service.

Essential Functions:

As a Server Assistant your job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Greets all Guests immediately with “Welcome to Ted’s!”
  • Offers all Guests a warm farewell upon leaving, thanking them and inviting them to return.
  • Seats Guests and presents them with clean menus.
  • Seats Guests in rotation amongst Servers to ensure Servers are given an equal number of tables. Will deviate from this if the Guest requests a specific table and/or Server.
  • Updates the floor chart continuously throughout the shift.
  • Collects menus and returns them to the Host Area.
  • Cleans menus as needed throughout the shift.
  • Accurately quotes wait times when there are no available tables.
  • Informs the Expeditor of open menu counts several times throughout the shift.
  • Observes tables and keeps track of clean, dirty and occupied tables.
  • Answers phone calls (within 3 rings) and questions regarding Ted’s location and menu items.
  • Throughout the shift, always ensure that the front door area is both clean and maintained, both inside and out. This includes making sure the brass and windows are free of smudge and fingerprint.
  • Keeps the Host Area stocked with Wikki Stix, toothpicks, take-away menus, business cards and any other necessary items.
  • Assists the Servers by refilling waters and beverages, running food to the tables and processing payment.
  • Also assists in bussing and resetting tables.
  • Performs restroom checks several times throughout the shift using the restroom check pads.
  • Informs Management immediately of Guests who are dissatisfied.
  • Maintains professional, composed and calm demeanor at all times.
  • Completes all side-work as directed.
  • Assists in an entire team effort.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

Special Skills or knowledge necessary for this position:

  • Full-Service Restaurant Kitchen Experience is desired.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Able to communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Organizational skills-Ability to be organized in a changing environment.
  • Ability to maintain a calm professional demeanor during periods of uncertainty or crisis.

Essential Physical Requirements:

Daily physical requirements and/or number of pounds that may need to be lifted on the job:

  • Stands during entire shift.
  • Reaches, bends, stoops, lifts, shakes, pours, carries, and pushes.
  • Lifts and carries tubs, trays, and cases weighing up to 100 lbs up to 20 times per shift.
  • Frequent exposure to smoke, steam, high temperatures, humidity and extreme cold.
