PPG has recently completed the acquisition of the AkzoNobel North American Architectural Coatings business. This acquisition provides our newly combined Trade organization a tremendous platform for profitable growth. This acquisition enables us to now operate in 900 retail stores, sell through over 5,000 dealer stores and supply product to large home improvement retailers, such as Lowe's and Home Depot. This acquisition also brings a portfolio of well established brands to PPG such as Glidden, Glidden Professional, Ralph Lauren Paint, Devoe Coatings and Martha Stewart Living paints; Flood, Sikkens and Synteko woodcare products; plus Liquid Nails adhesives and caulks.

PPG Architectural Coatings is searching for an Assistant Brand Manager - Homax!

Support all aspects of marketing for the Homax business and product lines, including Product & Project Management, Channel Management, Brand Management, and MARCOM support.
Working closely with the marketing manager, the person in this position will be responsible for driving profitable top line growth through the introduction of new products, new distribution/store penetration, effective promotional support and a continual focus on improving all facets of the PPG/Homax business.

Key Responsibilities Include: Other duties may be assigned.

Project Management & Tactical Execution:
  • Execution of cross-functional item /system set-ups including: New product item set-up, Change Management, Packaging Specifications, and BOM setup.
  • Work effectively with a cross-functional team
  • General Project Management and Project Tracking
  • Driving product launch activation support
  • Internal & external product training
  • General assistance offered to Marketing Manager as needed in managing diverse variety of product lines.


New Product Development and Product Lifecycle Management:
  • Product tracking during rollouts and brand development.
  • Perform/ coordinate product testing and document and communicate test evaluations.
  • Development of product packaging as well as product copy including proof reading
  • SWOT analysis including assessment of competitive products and analysis
  • Market research stimuli and session support.
  • Develops launch plans and executes all elements to introduce new products and new programs including: sales presentation, pricing, packaging and samples.
  • Be a champion for the vision and share internally and externally.
  • Cost Structure and Pricing Management.


Brand Management & MARCOM
  • Brand & product portfolio planning
  • Brand stewardship and social media support
  • Packaging development & Merchandising execution
  • Brand competitive analysis
  • Creation of brand presentations and visual aids.


Financial Acumen:
  • Perform routine margin & costing analysis including pricing recommendations for new and existing items.


Channel / Market Knowledge & Management
  • Prepare & coordinate marketing support for customer line reviews as well as coordinating / leading product training initiatives with sales team, channel team, reps, and customers
  • Is the “resident expert” for the Trade Channel. Knows the Channel and what is relevant from a customer and user standpoint in the specific channel. (e.g., the Profile of the Paint Store & Home Center shopper and how we position Homax product offerings to be relevant in the respective Channel.)
  • Coordinates Graphics, Merchandising, Packaging Planning/Execution to meet Channel Needs.
  • Coordinate development of prototypes, mock-ups, demonstration materials and samples.
  • Retail price/shelf space analysis through regular store walks
  • Coordination of rep and sales communication including product mailing
  • Customer Line Review and Promo Planning and Execution
  • Works with channel and sales team on POG and Promo Schedule for key retailers. Develops and execute plans to drive and continuously improve share of shelf and item productivity.


Qualifications

REQUIRMENTS:

The successful candidate must have marketing knowledge, excellent project management skills, and be able to manage multiple projects at one time. This individual is a self-starter and eager to meet the needs of internal and external customers. Excellent communications skills and the ability to work effectively within a complex sales organization and cross functional team environment is required. They must have extensive knowledge of the market place, the ability to think strategically, and strong business acumen.

Requires 3 to 5 years of Marketing experience and Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related technical field are required. An advanced Marketing degree or MBA is a plus .
