Key Responsibilities
  • Drive upstream safety measures to include things such as: Management Intervention; Safety Training; Near Miss Reporting; Management of Change and Action Item Closure.
  • Support the facility’s Process Safety Management Program.
  • Maintain and improve the EHS Management System on an on-going basis.
  • Develop and implement programs to reduce EHS risks and to comply with regulatory and PPG corporate requirements.
  • Actively participate in Emergency Response activities in a leadership capacity.
  • Manage loss prevention strategy and maintain, inspect and operate the facility fire system.
  • Develop and deliver effective safety and health related training.
  • Perform Industrial Hygiene (IH) monitoring and evaluate results.
  • Participate on facility ergonomic team to ensure employee involvement in identifying risks through the use of risk assessment tools and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Oversee service contracts for maintenance, service, and repair of facility fire systems, perimeter access control, and security.
  • Drive root cause investigations.
  • Manage all H&S vendor and service related contracts; Track monthly spending.
  • Floor presence daily to assure conformance to requirements

Qualifications

Experience and Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related Health & Safety discipline along with 1 – 5 years of Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
