The Vice President, Underwriting Behavioral Health is responsible for leading an underwriting team in support of achieving business goals and objectives for behavioral health, EAP and other related products within Optum Specialty Network. You will partner with product leaders to develop business strategies, benefit designs, procedures and protocols, and financial risk management strategies. You will also will support development of new products going to market. As the Vice President, you will build and maintain collaborative working relationships with business partners.


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Provides leadership to and is accountable for the performance and results through multiple layers of management and senior level professional staff

  • Develops, translates and executes strategies

  • Guides others to resolve highly complex business problems that affect underwriting, finance, account management, actuarial, healthcare economics and other business functions

  • Drives programs that impact the EAP and behavioral market

  • Develop a process for risk assessment, mitigation and reporting for the behavioral health products

  • Establish review processes to ensure that Underwriting teams are appropriately reporting case-level projections in a consistent and accurate manner

  • The successful candidate will possess strong client-facing skills and executive presence

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Science or related degree

  • 10+ years of underwriting or Actuarial experience in health care, preferably managed care environment

  • 5+ years of management experience

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Demonstrated expertise and health care experience in developing program rates and pricing methodologies

  • FSA or ASA
