As a Business Solutions Architect, you'll work alongside a high caliber team as you drive innovation and business forward. You'll roll up your sleeves as you coordinate complete projects, defining performance and results. When you get into the driver's seat of this role, you will show your expertise in determining time frames, allotment of staffing and funding resources and leading others in the organization to make meaningful process improvements. The Business Solutions Architect will support multiple initiatives throughout the Optum Shared Services portfolio by facilitating process review and re-engineering  processes,  evaluate current and known improvement possibilities, and suggest new and innovative solutions for opportunities within Optum.  


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Reviewing, analyzing, evaluating ideas, projects and opportunities to develop new products, new technologies and business models for the business segments

  • Collaborating across business segments to both find opportunities for and showcase ideas in the Innovation and emerging business pipeline

  • Creating business architecture models demonstrating how products, operations and systems interoperate within the organization

  • Conduct analysis to determine best path for solving business problems/opportunities that may include process improvement, systems enhancement, user training, and/or software procurement

  • Ensure solutions developed across organization are aligned to enterprise architecture standards and principles, leverage common solutions and services, and meet financial targets (cost and benefits)

  • Provides overall direction, guidance and definition of business architecture to effectively support business strategy. Apply and utilize business modeling methods to ensure results oriented deliverables in a way that can be recreated and used as a corporate knowledge resource available to project level initiatives and executive decision making

  • Acts as a subject matter expert in the development of business architecture framework, selection of tool suite, design, and methodology

  • Leads Senior Management through the development of a business architecture plan for the line of business. Evaluate and present information that will facilitate effective and timely decision-making through written and oral communication materials that effectively summarize findings with recommendations

  • Partners with IT architecture team in developing an IT framework that aligns with the business plan

  • Functions as a liaison to Business and IT partners in order to gain a broad understanding of industry trends and innovations, and their impact on technology

  • Leads the effort to work with business leaders to identify business capability needs and prioritization

  • Leads the effort to identify and document capability and initiative needs and strategic prioritization into business architecture deliverables (roadmaps etc)

  • Provide architectural oversight of projects; ensure requirements are in alignment with business strategies and business architecture roadmap/framework

  • Conducts Impact Assessments with business and technical teams input to determine appropriate project resourcing and timing

  • May direct other business architect and SMEs to ensure collaboration across the team

Position can be located in MN, CT, TN or MD

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years consulting experience at the intersection of Business and IT Strategy

  • 5+ years in the business process analysis/engineering, planning and improvement

  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio)

  • 3+ years of healthcare experience

  • Broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance

  • Proven ability to recognize issues and opportunities within the business domains, functional interdependencies and cross-silo

  • Demonstrated ability to apply architectural principles, methods, and tools to business challenges

  • Broad understanding of technology and how it's used to drive business growth and/or efficiencies

  • Strong business modeling and analysis expertise in developing business architecture deliverables such as strategy models, operating, process and organizational models

  • Ability to quickly understand and assess a client's current business architecture / operating model

  • Moderate to strong communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong presentation skill and the ability to influence without authority

  • Ability to build client relationships and collaborate with internal and external clients

  • Ability to solve problems with innovative ideas to affect change in business strategy and operations as a result

 


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's Degree

  • MS Project experience

  • Large program implementation skills including risk management, project portfolio management and the planning, reporting and directing the work of others across multiple implementation projects concurrently
