Associate General Counsel in Optum's customer contracting team is primarily responsible for drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing software, services and consulting contracts with clients. This role will interact with internal business units, external customers, vendors and strategic partners to provide timely updates and counsel on various legal and contractual issues. Experience advising companies in negotiation and drafting of technology and services agreements in the healthcare industry is preferred.


 


Additional Responsibilities:



  • Advising internal clients on product or contract-related legal issues

  • Maintain commercial agreements in corporate contract management system

  • Continuous process improvement of contract templates

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree

  • 3+ years of experience with reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial technology and services contracts

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to evaluate and determine appropriate legal course of action to meet business unit needs

  • Ability to build and maintain rapport with superiors, peers, subordinates, and external company contacts
