This is a mission-critical key managerial role within the Discover Card Fraud Strategy Management team. Responsibilities include leading the effort to develop the industry best-in-class analytics and leverage these analytical capabilities to develop the key business strategies for fraud detection and customer treatment. This position calls for a well-rounded analytics-focused manager, who has a high level of proven experience and the excellent track record in fraud detection analytics, especially in fraud behavior attribute creation via advanced techniques such as machine learning and out of pattern recognition.

The successful candidate will work in a cross-functional environment with Authorizations, Decision Science, Discover Network and other functional teams. As an integral part of the fraud strategy management team, this Senior Manager also shares the responsibility of improving core metrics related to fraud rate, incidents, c/o dollars and customer experience. He or she will manage the efforts of researching the best way to leverage customer-level information and external information as well as the advanced analytics to optimize business metrics to meet company’s objectives. Will also:

•Lead the development and implementation of the best-in-class fraud detection analytical capabilities by leveraging and enhancing both external and proprietary fraud detection capabilities.

•Lead the development and implementation of fraud management strategies based on customer life cycle behaviors.

• Establish appropriate profitability trade offs using various tools to maximize business return on the business exposure ensuring that key business factors are understood and measured e.g. impact on usage, revenue and fraud dollars.

• Develop an account level decision framework to support business strategies working closely with a broad range of business partners. Identify and explore new approaches and data sources to support improvements to existing and new programs.

• Create and run an effective range of test and control programs in a fully controlled environment in support of targeting and strategy enhancement.

• Establish, run and improve effective strategy performance tracking ensuring that strategies are performing as expected and feedback learning’s into strategy and / or policy changes in a timely manner.

• Prepare and present new analytical solutions/strategies and subsequent performance to business heads and executives in both informal and formal environments.

• Establish and build strong effective working relationships with a range of business partners, particularly operations, Discover Network and other Credit Risk Management partners.

• Provide leadership in design and management of external and internally developed fraud prevention tools and systems.

• Provide leadership in identifying current and future data requirements for the fraud management function.

• Manage a team of analysts to deliver results as well as engage in people development and hiring decisions for the fraud analytics function.

Qualifications

Demonstrate an understanding of various consumer finance products and the fraud management function. Candidates will be expected to have a proven track record of fraud analytics utilizing the advanced and best-in-class fraud detection techniques and must have a strong analytical skill based background

- Graduate level training in outlier detection techniques that applicable to fraud behavior detection with minimum 5 year working experience in fraud detection related fields
- Exhibit high levels of business and personal credibility combined with expert influencing skills to gain an agreement on compelling arguments and concepts.
- Results-orientation with energy, drive, commitment, and resilience to excel in a collaborative and open business environment.
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Evidence of successfully leading, inspiring and empowering a team of analysts
- Extensive SAS and SQL programming skills , preferably in multiple environments.
- Proficient in use of MS Office
- Knowledge of optimization methodology

Education

M.S. / Ph.D. Degree in Statistics/Math, Operation Research, Economics, Engineering, and a relevant quantitative field.
