We are a free standing Medical Billing office for Dominican Hospital located on the beautiful Central California Pacific Coast in Santa Cruz California. The position oversees 25 employees working with all insurances, Medicare, MediCal and private pay patients. All staff is covered under the bargaining agreement with SEIU.

Dominican is part of a group of 9 facilities working throughout Central California. Facility is a 250 bed acute care facility with a Rehab unit.

Duties: Manage a $260M accounts receivable, including the billing, collection, cash posting functions as well as supervising the work of the analysts for the hospital information system, claim submission and other revenue cycle applications. Is responsible for maintaining the A/R at directed levels, ensuring government billing compliance regulations and requirements are met, and all government and internal corporate reports are produced accurately and on time. Interprets State and other government regulations to ensure effective application for third party collections. Ensures mandated projects and business processes are implemented and maintained. Mentors and trains reporting staff including 2 supervisors and 5 system and data analysts.

This is a very hands on job. It's a small shop that produces a lot of cash for its size, and given that it has one of the better payer mixes, it is imperative that it meet the cash goals—which are somewhat aggressive for a hospital this size. But with only 2 supervisors to run the daily operations (time cards, PTO, equipment breakdowns, cross training & coverage etc.), it falls to this position to lead most of the project implementations and complete quite a good piece of the corporate reporting. Given the hybrid of automation (part yes/part no) at this facility, it is a requirement that this individual be very good with Excel, and at root cause analysis. Strong understanding of hospital information systems would also be very helpful.
