Job Title: Permitting Specialist

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and address the needs of Bloom's Project Managers as it relates to permits and environmental planning
• Coordinate all aspects of the permitting process, including preparing application submittals, attending hearings, securing required approvals, and expediting as needed
• Coordinate the efforts of multidisciplinary staff, including staff engaged in the preparation and review of projects
• Provide expertise and advice on land use and environmental matters
• Effectively communicate project goals and Bloom's interests internally and externally
• Establish project needs and monitor work in progress to ensure final deliverables adhere to requirements
• May require management of subcontractors
• Additional duties include interpreting permits and other environmental documents
• Expertise regarding permits and regulations
• Consult with internal and external scientists, engineers and regulators to plan projects
• Other daily job duties might include: directing necessary research; communicating with management regarding project status; and working with necessary staff to meet specified project time frames
• Other duties as required

Skills Required:

• Excellent communication skills - both written and oral
• Ability to prioritize and respond to changing dynamics
• Strong understanding of permitting and citing practices preferred
• Ability to take complicated technical concepts and translate to a general audience in a compelling, succinct manner
• Ability to manage negotiations, policy changes and other needs with local agencies
• Ability to think and act strategically
• Strong self-starter who is a team player and can work independently
• Strong desire for success and significance

Education and Experience:

• Undergraduate degree required, preferably in land use planning, civil engineering or environmental engineering preferred
• 5-8 years of work experience permitting in the Long Island area
