This sales professional is responsible for obtaining profitable results by developing sales prospects for a specific line of specialty pharmacy products, leveraging medical contact relationships and articulating OptumRx's unique value proposition and service offerings.  These will be achieved through clinical discussions with targeted health professionals to maximize sales growth and increase product volume within a specified regional geography.


 


Positions in this function are responsible for selling new business.  In addition, they are responsible for analyzing and reporting sales data, communicating changes to sales plans, providing knowledge about customers and competitors, communicating pricing data and managing the operational logistics of sales meetings and activities. 


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Manages sales for the region, develops a business plan covering sales, revenue and expense controls, meets agreed upon targets and promotes OptumRx's Specialty Pharmacy services throughout the United States

  • Ability to effectively manage the relationships with all influencers at the practice offices or within practice groups

  • Assists in developing the annual marketing plan, specifically advising on realistic forecasts for each product/therapy and territory.  Works with Marketing for development of value proposition unique to the market, marketing collateral (print, social media, Website content, messaging)

  • Utilizes best practices when interacting with customers, promotes a selling model using specific strategies to achieve successful selling in a unique market

  • Interaction with executives and other stakeholders

  • Performs all company business in accordance with regulations (e.g. HIPPA, SOX, EEO, FDA, DEA, OSHA, PDMA, EPA, PhRMA, etc.) and company policy and procedure

  • Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts in order to maintain OptumRx's excellent reputation within the healthcare community

  • Ability to think creatively and independently to influence doctors and medical staff to utilize OptumRx Specialty Pharmacy Services

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Pharmacy, Nursing or related field

  • Physician/hospital sales experience

  • Existing relationships with providers, practices, hospitals and with thought leaders in care management and Specialty Pharmacy is valued

  • Proven sales track record indicating accomplishment and successes

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook and database applications

  • Proficient in use of SalesForce.com

  • Ability to travel up to 50% within assigned market or region

  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills including presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's Degree

  • Pharmaceutical sales, claims sales and/or nursing experience

  • Experience in a hospital setting, practice group and/or in a specialty pharmacy division

  • Knowledge of Specialty Pharmacy processes

  • Experience across multiple therapy sub-specialties
