Minnieland Academy has exciting opportunities for Teachers in Manassas / Dumfries , VA.

The teacher is responsible for the care and education the group of children within the classroom that they are assigned to. The teacher is responsible for using the appropriate curriculum for the age group as prescribed by corporate policies and national accreditation standards. The teacher is also responsible for following all health and safety guidelines for care as prescribed by corporate policies, licensing standards and national accreditation standards. The teacher will utilize communication skills with families and fellow teachers to maintain a relationship of mutual collaboration to meet the needs of each child by using warm and caring tones. The teacher accepts responsibility for the health, safety and developmental progress of each child in his/her primary care group.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties:
Safety and Accountability:
* Maintaining the ongoing record of attendance and the daily health assessment of the children assigned to their care.
* Completing all written communications expected within their program correctly and in a timely manner.
* Maintaining sight and sound supervision of all children assigned to their care at all times.
Health and Nutrition:
* Using and teaching appropriate health practices to include: hand-washing techniques, diapering/toileting procedures, and food service procedures.
* Feed children according to the developmental and programmatic guidelines for the age group to which they are assigned.
* Responsible for the care and cleanliness of the furniture, materials, and surfaces in their classroom to ensure a healthy environment.
* Conducting regular inspections of all areas used by the children in their care to ensure that there are no potential health and/or safety hazards.
Environment:
* Maintaining appropriate room arrangement and visual display guidelines as outlined by corporate policy.
* Ensuring that classroom areas are clean, organized, and well-equipped.
* Modeling and training on the appropriate use of materials and equipment used by the children in their care.
Attachment and Positive Guidance:
* Forming appropriate attachments with the children in their care.
* Establishing a nurturing relationship with each child which includes but is not limited to warm individualized verbal and nonverbal interactions; lifting, holding, cuddling, and hugging young children as socially and culturally appropriate.
* Implementing positive guidance strategies. Teachers are responsible for communicating positively and effectively with parents, children, co-workers and visitors.
* Ensuring there is a positive classroom environment.
Education and Assessment:
* Assessing the needs of each individual child in their care and writing developmentally appropriate lessons that meet the needs of those children.
* Lesson plans must meet the Minnieland Academy guidelines with the use of the provided curriculum.
* Implementing both group and individualized activities as outlined within those plans.
* Continuously evaluating the effectiveness of the lessons and activities in meeting the children's needs.
* Keep a record of the children's progress through documentation and sample work in each child's individual portfolio as dictated by Minnieland's curriculum and corporate policies.
Professional Development:
* Attend trainings, workshops, and/or college courses as identified in their individual training plan. This plan will be developed by the Director in consultation with the teacher and in possible collaboration with the assigned Educational Specialist. This individual training plan will meet Minnieland Academy, Department of Social Services, and national accreditation requirements.

Other Responsibilities:
* Be able to perform all physical aspects of the position as called for throughout the day, including but not limited to: lifting up to 50 lbs.; getting up and down on the floor; bending to the child's level; and standing for an undetermined amount of time.
* Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing using the English language.
* Work their scheduled hours in order to provide consistency in the classroom.
* Work to promote the success of the academy by being supportive, flexible, and a team player.
* Adhere to Minnieland's personnel policies which include, but are not limited to policies related to dress code; use of personal communication devices; use of social media; and maintaining a good reputation in the community.

Requirements:
* Must hold a CDA credential or Bachelor's degree in an Early Childhood Education related field.
* At least one (1) year of experience.
* Must be capable of communicating effectively both orally and in writing as applicable to the job responsibilities.
