We are searching for an innovative Data Analytics Business Analyst to join our experienced team in Phoenix AZ. This creative role offers an excellent opportunity to directly impact an innovative function and secure your future with an industry leader. This role will be located at the UnitedHealthcare Community & State (UHC C&S) Phoenix office and primarily focus on their needs. This would include attending market and possible state meetings and aligning on requirements and be pro-active in sharing appropriate information with the Health Plan, Finance team and regulatory/encounter teams. The Data Analytics Business Analyst will support short and long term operational/strategic business activities with data and information needs, prescribed in the contract with the Health Plans as well as those of the Regulatory/Encounter senior leadership. The chosen candidate will research, investigate and document key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and healthcare costs data as well as lead in the coordination and quality control of business processes and procedures.


 


Additional Responsibilities:



  • Provide management with statistical findings and conclusions in analyzing interpreting trends and root cause analysis; leverage UHC C&S data assets, products and processes to ensure use of UHC Business Intelligence best practices

  • Strong communication and documentation skills in order to explain data to our leaders and the Health Plans as necessary

  • Qualified to build and run UHC C&S data analytics and reports using the reporting and analytics tools as well as partnering with the core reporting and analytic teams to as necessary

  • Assesses, interprets, document and analyzes customer needs and requirements

  • Solves problems and/or conducts analyses

  • Provide analytical support and expertise when compiling and reporting information

  • Evaluate, interpret, document and analyze data and/or business processes

  • Evaluate and present information in a manner that will facilitate management's understanding of the results and impact

  • Produce, analyze, document and monitor new, routine and ad hoc requirements

  • Work with core teams in multiple locations

  • Strong ability to identify solutions to non-standard requests and problems

  • Solve moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analyses

  • Works with minimal guidance; seeks guidance on only the most complex tasks

  • Translates concepts into practice

  • Coaches, provides feedback, and guides others

Primary Characteristics



  • Capacity to handle and facilitate financial and medical/case management focused questions

  • Ability to extract contract language into usable reports both regulatory and operational

  • Project Management Skills; this role can be crucial as a Business Analyst especially in the early stage report planning phase of health plan requirements

  • Strong ability to articulate medical and financial data trends to medical and non-medical staff

Requirements

Required qualifications:



  • 3+ years of experience in a healthcare environment

  • At least a beginner level proficiency with SQL, SAS and/or other statistical programs

  • Data analysis experience

  • 3+ years of experience in Business Analysis/gathering/documenting requirements

  • 2+ years of experience with client relations/customer service

  • Proficiency in MS Excel

Preferred qualifications:



  • Undergraduate degree

  • Project Management experience
