We have an immediate opening in our National Accounts channel for a Territory Manager in the Houston, TX Market.

Are you an independent self starter who would enjoy the challenge that involves selling PPG Products in a large, national customer environment and coaching home-improvement store employees on their sales and customer-service skills? If so, we are interested in hearing from you!

As a Territory Manager, servicing up to 14 Lowes Stores in your assigned geographic area, you will have accountability for driving retail sales of our PPG Olympic paint and stain product lines. Operating independently and with limited supervision, you will achieve your sales objectives through training, support and influencing Lowes' store personnel to promote the use of Olympic products within the Paint and Contractor Departments.

Position highlights include:
  • General sales/service of the Lowes stores which includes, order writing, maintaining current point of sale and promotional materials, down stocking, selling in aisle and building relationships with paint department employees.
  • Training in-store personnel to fully understand the attributes and properties of the Olympic products as well as the PPG product advantages over competitive products.
  • Maintaining PPG planogram integrity and setting the PPG products to rate-of-sale within PPG assigned planogram space by product category.
  • Building relationships with Store Management in order to gain shelf space and implement other merchandising opportunities to increase sales.
  • Soliciting and selling the Contractor customer directly and building relationships with the Lowe's Commercial Sales Desk to sell in conjunction with them.
  • Participating in special events/project which include store grand openings, contractor events, competitive analysis, pricing surveys, Mobile Showroom Events, local customer events (fairs, trade/home improvement shows, community events, etc.), customer clinics, store sets, re-merchandizing and re-labeling.
  • This position is based on a 45-hour workweek and compensation will start in the $30's which includes base salary and overtime. Also included are a company car and cell phone.


Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science degree with a degree in business, marketing or related field is preferred
    • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (company car provided).
    • Must have demonstrated ability to communicate and share information with all levels of employees.
    • Strong oral and written presentation skills.
      The ability to lift up to 65 pounds on a regular basis.
    • Up to 30% travel with 1-2 nights a week spent over night in territory and some outside travel required throughout the year assisting in other territories, attending the national sales meeting or training seminars.
    • The regular work schedule for this position requires working Fridays and Saturdays throughout the year.
    • Experience with merchandising, retail operations and contractor segment is a plus
    • Experience with a major national home improvement retailer is preferred.
    • While not required, the ability to relocate will enhance future career advancement opportunities.
