Responsibilities


In this position, you will perform various duties related to the medication reconciliation program. This may include researching drug information with available resources, assessing patient eligibility, evaluating drug claims data, preparing review for skilled nursing facilities and/or primary care providers. You may consult with members and/or physicians regarding use of medications and potential drug interactions. Pharmacy Technicians must have current state license and a preferred national certification without restrictions based on regulatory requirements of worksite.


 



  • Organize and assemble medication reconciliation and review for transitions of care

  • Research drug information as necessary

  • Assess member eligibility, drug claims data and potential drug interactions

  • Extensive work experience within own function

  • Work is frequently completed without established procedures. - Works independently

  • May act as a resource for others

  • Navigate in and between internal and external computer systems quickly to respond to questions or find drug benefit or clinical information

  • Enter data (e.g., member or clinical) into computer systems that is used for making automated or clinical decisions -Utilize phone systems effectively to answer, make or transfer calls

  • Demonstrate proficiency in navigating basic computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office software)

  • Review cases or clinical information to make claim determinations, potential patient interventions, or prescription interpretations

  • Consult with members or others on medication use and appropriate interventions

  • Interpret and apply clinical guidelines or data to make judgments (e.g., identify clinical interventions, drug-drug or drug disease interactions)

  • Apply specific benefit plan criteria and guidelines to individual decisions or recommendations

  • Identify relevant information, prioritize information, and collect additional clinical or benefit data as needed -Interpret medical terminology (e.g., abbreviations) to enter information or respond to questions

  • Applies knowledge/skills to a range of moderately complex activities. - Demonstrates great depth of knowledge/skills in own function

  • Sometimes acts as a technical resource to others in own function. Proactively identifies solutions to non-standard requests

  • Solves moderately complex problems on own. - Works with team to solve complex problems

  • Plans, prioritizes, organizes and completes work to meet established objectives. - May coordinate work of other team members

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Minimum: High school education or equivalent experience, Utah State Pharmacy technician licensure

  • 2 years of Pharmacy related experience is required

 


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Preferred: nationally licensed certified pharmacy technician

  • Advanced education desired

  • Managed Care Experience and PBM experience
