About this job

The Regional Director is responsible for multiple stores and Store Manager supervision in a designated region. This position oversees the financial/budget, labor forecasting, product inventory and distribution, facilities management, vendor relationships and overall store operations for all stores in the given region. The Regional Director reports directly to the Regional Vice President.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the success and profitability of all stores within the Regional Director’s assigned region by analyzing P & L, margins and other financial tolls and implementing plans to ensure financial goals are met
  • Responsible for facilitating communications between Corporate and Stores ensuring company policies, procedures and practices are followed
  • Ensures proper staffing at each store; develops and mentors employees to assume key management positions at the store and merchandiser level
  • Strive to provide excellent customer service throughout the region
  • Works as the ambassador of Sprouts’ Culture and strives to maintain Sprouts Brand and Reputation
  • Oversees facility management for all stores in the region
  • Coordinates Sprouts safety, security, loss prevention, and compliance with applicable local, state and federal law on health, sanitation and food safety
  • Develops and implements programs to reduce shrink, maintain proper inventory levels and cash management
  • Ensures all stores adhere to proper Sprouts store conditions
  • Oversee the merchandisers assigned to your region
  • Conduct store meetings and attend manager’s meetings
  • Communicate and assist with other store locations regarding product overstock or staff needs
  • Coordinate the opening of new stores
  • Coordinate new store job fairs; ensure all new hire paperwork in completed correctly as well as overseeing pre-employment drug testing
  • Review all store requests for termination before sending to HR for final approval
  • Help store managers in following Sprouts discipline policy
  • Help maintain high levels of employee morale through employee recognition
  • Maintain Sprouts’ Open Door Policy and promote special events
  • Ensure proper pricing and inventory levels

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field
  • 5+ years of store management experience with multiple location oversight; or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with diverse employees
  • Experience performing cost benefit analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to champion new ideas and initiatives
  • Must have a good working knowledge of perishable and non-perishable practices in a grocery retail environment
  • Ability to interact with customers, vendors, suppliers and employees; must be able to provide and receive constructive feedback
  • Ability to multi-task, delegate and prioritize work; excellent time management skills
  • Must be able to analyze financial statements; requires basic math skills to calculate discounts, gross margins, markups, percentages and volume
  • Must be able to safely and effectively operate a variety of grocery store equipment such as: electrical and manual pallet jacks, scan guns, baler, meat-slicers, mixers, ovens, box cutters, alarm systems, floor buffers, etc
  • Basic knowledge of human resources practices such as recruiting, interviewing, employee relations, various employment laws, supervising, employee motivation techniques and discipline methods

  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, telephone, calculator, copy and fax machine requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand and eye movement
  • Travel to/from meetings and to various locations, domestic travel may be required
