Manufacturing Engineer - Full-time / Part-time

Manpower, Inc. of SE Michigan has a direct hire manufacturing engineer opening with our client in Dexter, MI. The selected candidate is responsible, under the direction of the operations manager, to assist in new project and process implementation, suggest and implement new equipment, capital projects, tooling, fixturing to produce the product, develop and maintain process cost data for others to use, develop required process information, develop preventive maintenance schedules for production machinery and conduct continuous improvement for manufacturing. Job duties include, but are not limited: * Organizing, editing, and entering onto the computer, work center information covering assigned company products. * Developing and maintaining all routing, process, and work center standards and make them available to all those who will enter information into the computer for manufactured items. * Working closely with QA to develop and document processes, procedures, and work instructions which affect product quality. * Confirming all manufacturing processes are capable of producing products that will consistently conform to acceptable safety standards. * Utilizing the product control change procedure to improve throughput and product. * Assisting in the selection and design, choice of physical location, and installation of in-plant processing equipment. * Assisting in design of fixtures for product processing. * Working closely with assigned manufacturing supervision to develop and maintain departmental training programs for specific job functions. * Formulating teaching outlines for identified jobs and required training. * Coordinating shop-floor training with department supervision to ensure processes/procedures/work instructions are being followed and training is being reinforced. * Working with departments to resolve non-conforming products and processes. * Helping departments organize areas to improve production processes, thru-puts and efficiencies. * Complying with all local, state, and federal laws affecting this area of responsibility. Preferred qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering or engineering technology required. * Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. * Thorough knowledge of basic concepts, LEAN principles and practices, and established manufacturing procedures. * Basic understanding of ISO quality program requirements. * Excellent verbal and written skills plus the ability to conduct effective meetings. * Any equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
