Currently, Meijer is looking for a Bakery Team Leader. Plans, directs, and supervises team members in the day to day operations of the Bakery department. Manages bakery department operations, recommends changes to inventory and pricing and purchases when needed. Ensures appropriate service levels at the bakery counter to provide a minimal wait time for customers. Is responsible for the department staff training, assignments and scheduling.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for staffing selection and hiring to achieve staffing needs.
  • Promotes succession planning by providing career paths, identifying development needs and being involved with and accountable for promotion decisions
  • Documents and applies disciplinary actions and makes recommendations concerning discharge
  • Responsible for P&L, achieving sales, labor and margin plans for the department
  • Reviews sales goals, supply costs, stock loss/shrink results and goals
  • Implements Corporate processes to achieve goals including shrink, margin, profit, sales, labor
  • Scheduling team members
  • Ensures the team is thoroughly trained in all aspects of their jobs and have completed all required training
  • Responsible for operations, merchandising profitability, processes and overall conditions of the entire Bakery department
  • Models exceptional, fast and friendly customer service
  • Communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations
  • Reviews Customer Survey and customer feedback from previous day or week
  • Following all food safety policies and practices
  • Responsible for ad set compliance, including ad signs
  • Proper usage of production planner
  • Promotes a safe work environment
  • Consistent and reliable attendance required
  • Other daily tasks as required


Qualifications
  • High school diploma or its equivalent required
  • 2-3 years of related retail experience
  • 1 year of management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize time and manage the time for others
  • Demonstrated ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness
  • Demonstrated ability to answer customer questions in a clear and service oriented manner
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct suggestive selling
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely
  • Successful completion of all required certifications
  • ServSafe Certification
