Bookkeeper / Office Assistant (North Babylon)
Compensation: Based on Experience
* We are a well-established retail store with wholesale customers. Looking to add an experienced full time Bookkeeper to our team.. IMMEDIATE POSITION AVAILABLE.

* Job Purpose: Responsible for providing administrative support by performing bookkeeping functions and handling general office tasks.

General Duties (as well as other special projects as assigned):
* Processes Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, run checks, bill customers and clients, and prepare bank deposits, ensuring that the correct general ledger accounts are debited or credited accordingly.
* Responsible for tracking Purchase orders from installers.
* Responsible for tracking and receiving timely payments of various rental properties. Communicating with tenants regarding any issues. (Spanish speaking a plus)
* Responsible for running monthly statements
* Monitors, tracks, and processes commissions.
* Responds to vendor inquires and fosters positive relationships regarding accounts payable / receivable.
* Answers telephones in a professional and friendly manner, directs calls, take messages, and performs reception coverage.
* Prepares invoices, reports, memos, letters, emails, and other documents using QuickBooks, Word, Excel spreadsheets, Outlook, and Publisher.
* Operates office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers, Endicia mailing systems.
* Maintains and updates filing, supplies, mailing, and database systems.
* Opens, sorts, and distributes incoming correspondence, including faxes and email.
* Performs online research for special projects as requested..
* Provides administrative, clerical and project support directly to the owners.
* Serves as gatekeeper to incoming queries for Owner; answer, screen, and direct incoming telephone calls ensuring a high level of professional customer service and confidentiality.
* Organizes the logistics of special events such as our yearly golf outing.

Skills/Qualifications:
* Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in a bookkeeping/administrative role; including Accounts Payable and Receivables background.
* Requires knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.
* Strong customer service background.
* Must possess proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office applications.
* Well-developed communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of staff.
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and to manage multiple priorities and strict deadlines
* Individual must be a self starter, have a strong attention to detail and be highly organized.
* Good writing, analytical and problem solving skills.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Computer Savvy.
Knowledge of beepers a plus
