Primary Responsibilities:


Healthcare Analytics Consultant is responsible for performing comprehensive research, managing program analytical portfolios, and identifying consumer, provider, and operational irregularities.   You will need to have the ability to drive an enterprise level program in the technical domain.  You will investigate, research, and analyze claims data, applying knowledge of medical or pharmacy policy to determine details of fraudulent or abusive billing activity, internal and external forces on medical costs, as well as understanding the dynamics of medical cost reduction initiatives and payment integrity initiatives on operating costs and performance.


 


This position is also responsible for writing or governing complex statistical statements with the objective of developing methods in which to measure health care cost, utilization, quality, and risk to assist our customers in solving business problems.


 


Daily responsibilities include managing team and engagement production, meeting departmental turnaround times, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of algorithms. Additional responsibilities involve working with Analytics Directors on staffing needs, strategic trend identification, monitoring claim inventory, issue resolution and technical solutions related to data, data flow and algorithm development. 


 


 


This role will be expected to:



  • Set team direction, resolve problems and provide guidance to members of own team

  • Adapt departmental plans and priorities to address business and operational challenges

  • Influence or provide input to forecasting and planning activities

  • Make analytical product, service or process decisions likely to impact multiple groups of employees and/or customers (internal or external)

  • Collaborate with Business Analysts and Methodologists to create working prototypes of solutions

  • Facilitating or creating complex statistical statements on healthcare data that measures various aspects of healthcare services, consumer episodes, and operational events

  • Prioritize and manage an analysis plan and several analytical work streams in support of UHC initiatives and programs

  • Work with Process Engineering, Payment Integrity, Quality Assurance, and Operations to validate that the methods designed are accurately reflected in the delivered solutions

Requirements


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Healthcare Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biostatistics,  Computer Science, Theoretical Physics, Quantitative Social Sciences, Actuarial Science

  • 2+ years of oversight of data management using big data to architect a product or suite of products 

  • 3 years of research or problem solving experience  

  • 3 years of statistical software experience (e.g., SAS , SPSS, or R)

  • 2+ years of leading analytics projects at executive level 

  • Demonstrated experience in analytics management

  • Oversight of a matrix team (up to 10 people)

 


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree  

  • Entity resolution  experience

  • Experience with SAS Enterprise Miner and Enterprise Guide

  • Project experience with Teradata, Hadoop, or Fuzzy Logix

  • SQL and VBA coding

  • Experience with healthcare data, specifically in Medicare and Medicaid analytics, provider and consumer analytics, and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA) analytics

 


Successful Candidates will have the following soft-skills:

  • Ability to navigate and drive results in a matrix environment

  • Ability to document and communicate complex technical concepts

  • Competency to convert research requirements to analytical specifications

  • Able to recognize technical and analytical problems and solution with minimal supervision

Successful candidates will have the following technical abilities:



  • Ability to create and analyze Generalized Linear models like Logistic regression Poisson regression

  • Hands on experience with Statistical Data mining techniques like CART, Cluster analysis, solving Voronoi diagrams etc and Survival analysis

  • Hands on experience with Forecasting models and Capacity planning models

  • Very good knowledge of Design and Analysis of Experiments/ Response surface methodologies preferred

  • Experience analyzing and coordinating financial data, generating reports, tables, listings and graphs

  • Experience creating models in statistical programming software and analyzing the results of these models

  • Predictive Scorecards (Risk Modeling) and Logistics Regression

  • Experience in Correlation, Regression, Cluster Analysis, Factor Analysis, Logistic Regression, Discriminate Analysis, Customer Segmentation, and Conjoint Analysis
