WebDAM, a Shutterstock company, is seeking an DevOps Engineer. We aim to leverage technologies like Chef, Mesos, Sensu, Docker, AWS and Etcd to build a self-service system to scale services rapidly. This particular role will operate as a regular member of Shutterstock's Global Infrastructure team as a whole but be focused on, co-located, and embedded with WebDAM. Your focus will be to rebuild WebDAM's operational stack, nuts and bolts, on top of AWS and help facilitate ever improving performance and scalability.Members of the Infrastructure Team are inherently curious and aim to be cross-functional. While you can't know everything, an Infrastructure Engineer's key skill is their ability to rapidly learn things, make them useful, and if need be, unlearn them and pivot. Your plasticity and openness to new paradigms and their technical execution is your most important asset. You will not get bored and you will be enabled to solve problems and build systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Have a positive approach and work to enable and lift up those around you
Works effectively in a team/Agile environment to monitor, log, resolve, and escalate infrastructure issues
Continually look for opportunities to develop solutions through automation; participates in teams dedicated to continuous improvement
Advocate operational best practices to technical and product teams
Drive process and company-wide communications, including post mortems, incident reports, and project lifecycle documentation
Drive automation, monitoring and horizontal scalability of key systems
Remove single point of failures, reliability weak points and performance bottlenecks
Provide feedback and guidance on architecture proposals from across the organizations

​BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent system-level thinking and the ability to move up and down the stack
4+ years of relevant experience
Knowledge of system automation frameworks (Chef, Puppet)
Knowledge of Linux
Experience with Amazon Web Services
Experience with Unix systems administration including solid scripting skills
Understanding of networking
Strong communication skills
Superior troubleshooting approach
A high sense of ownership, initiative, follow through and drive
