As part of Consumer Solutions Business Transformation team, the Director - Strategic Performance Guarantees will be responsible for ongoing evaluation and innovation of Consumer Solutions' Performance Guarantees. This individual will be a business partner to the sales and account management team, operations, product, finance and Healthcare Analytics in evolving informed, effective, market differentiating Performance Guarantee offerings for the Consumer Solutions portfolio of products and solutions.   


 


Primary Responsibilities:




  • Establish Performance Guarantee expertise and consult with key business partners to offer the most effective, proven, standardized set of Performance Guarantee(s) that drive and demonstrate the value necessary to satisfy the client's unique objective



  • Engage with finance in complex sales opportunities where nonstandard guarantees are being requested. Understand client's needs, offer standard guarantee alternatives, and help shape organization's response


  • Conduct formal competitive analysis of Performance Guarantee offerings and results, share findings with CSG leadership and develop strategies for differentiating Optum in the marketplace

  • Interface with consultants, clients and prospective clients to understand voice of customer around Performance Guarantee demands and objectives

  • Maintain inventory of preferred PG offerings and be able to articulate the Optum point of view to the client

  • Conduct PG training and develop selling tools, language to inform Front Office in their sales process

  • Understand the end-to-end process across the Optum organization related to Performance Guarantees - from PGs being established in the pricing/contracting process, through product oversight, operational delivery, and reporting. Recommend and implement effective strategies to improve for contracting terms/conditions, performance tracking, monitoring and internal reporting at a client and book of business level

  • Analyze operational implications and costs as well as client / market perceptions associated with Consumer Solutions' Performance Guarantee pass / fail results

  • Analyze book of business performance (on clients with PGs and those without) to innovate PG offerings, develop informed targets and risk-tiering strategies and correlations

  • With the move from product-based offerings to Population Health Solutions and the Rally engagement platform, develop and evolve the set of population-based outcome and savings offerings

  • Integrate Performance Guarantees into Optum's value story – from selling through delivery and program review

  • Work across a complex, matrix organization to drive change

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in a health related or business field

  • At least 8-10 years of demonstrated success in an innovative role with responsibility for driving change across a large, complex, highly matrixed environment

  • 3+ years prior experience in the health care industry

  • Ability to work with and across Sales, Product, Operations, Analytics and Finance teams

  • Mix of strategic thinking and operational expertise: Ability to innovate end-to-end

  • Strong business, financial, organization, and communication skills

  • Analytical ability and business acumen

  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Familiarity with business analysis, program management and process improvement methodologies

  • Familiarity with financial analysis; comfort with P&L 

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Advanced degree

  • Familiarity with consumer health solutions is a plus

  • Visio & SharePoint
