ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
The Network Engineer is responsible for leading and assisting in the Network Operations Department. This individual must be motivated, driven, and goal oriented. Must take initiative and have the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at one time. This position requires flexibility and active team communication skills. This individual must possess excellent customer service, professional, and project management skills. This role will work directly with the Information Technology Department and report to the Sr. Network Director.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities of the Network Engineer are essential in the daily execution of the position:
  • Working with service and equipment vendors
  • Move, add, change, install, and troubleshoot voice and data related systems
  • Develop and continuously improve internal processes
  • Cross training with other team members
  • Manage small projects
  • On-call for all communications related issues
  • Manage small to medium projects
  • Total project management responsibilities for medium to large efforts following ATA project management standards.
  • Develop, maintain, report, and track all departmental costs and budgets to the necessary level of detail
  • Install and troubleshoot data networks
  • Establish goals and measurements and track and report regular progress
  • Foster team work
  • Other duties as assigned

    Requirements:
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors degree preferred but not required or equivalent experience in networking field
  • Certifications related to Network hardware a plus
  • 2-4 years experience with WAN/LAN technologies, ie, routers, TCP/IP, 802.X, and 10Base-T
  • 2-4 years experience with wiring standards, configurations, installations
  • 2-4 years experience with Cisco Routers and various switches, hubs and routers
  • 2-4 years experience troubleshooting network outages and downtimes
  • Data Network Sniffer analysis, problem isolation and resolution
  • Strong working knowledge of networks and TCP/IP
  • Working knowledge of Project or other project management tools
  • 1-3 years experience managing small to medium projects on WAN or LAN including:
  • Issues tracking, management, and escalation
  • Sub-project development and organization
  • Experience with network security, policies, procedures and management
  • Experience with remote access solutions
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Job Classification: Light
    Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and or up to 10 lbs of force frequently, and or a negligible amount of
    force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand
    requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even thought the weight lifted may be only a negligible
    amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2)
    when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and or pulling of arm or leg controls and or (3) when
    the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and or pulling of materials even
    though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a
    production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting can be and is physically demanding of a worker even
    though the amount of force is negligible.
