This position will be responsible for the design, development, and management of the Infertility product portfolio.  While medical advances can help many women achieve their goal of a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby, infertility services are clinically, emotionally and financially complex.  Optum's Infertility programs are designed to help people optimally navigate the complicated and often stressful aspects of infertility services.


 


This position is for a seasoned product development leader who can define strategy, generate new product growth and maintain existing customer relationships.  This product leader must become a thought leader in the Infertility industry and develop solutions that transform the industry.  This individual shall possess the leadership skills to influence others in a matrix organization and infuse them with a passion for the Infertility program and its goals. 


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Conceptualize, design, implement, and launch solutions that impact medical cost spend, targeting providers, consumers, employers, and/or payers

  • Define business requirements including product, pricing, capability and operational requirements to launch new products

  • Collaborate with technical, clinical and business teams to scope and define product commercialization requirements and deliverables for new and enhanced offerings

  • Translate business vision and strategy into operational tactics and build the organizational support and infrastructure needed to achieve them

  • Identify issues, analyze, document critical facts, and present recommendations to parties needed to drive to a decision

  • Effectively communicate with internal teams (finance, actuaries, treasury, financial reporting, tax, administration, and IT) to ensure that they understand the financial risk transaction and impacts

  • Monitors product results and defines the long-term sustainability and profitability of the product

  • Monitor the product life cycle from inception through operation and maintenance; ensure consistency with the strategic vision and market/customer requirements

  • Influences senior management decisions and support in the development and management of customer relationships and contracts

  • Direct, recruit, retain, and develop a team of product management professionals in support of the above responsibilities

  • Proven track record in effectively leading and managing teams to produce on-time, high-quality deliverables with a high level of customer satisfaction

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • 9+ years' experience as a Product Manager and/or Product Development Manager in health care

  • Prior P&L responsibility of $50M or more

  • Experience in Women's Health programs such as Maternity, Infertility or NICU strongly preferred

  • BS/BA degree in business, Finance, or related field preferred; MBA preferred

  • Demonstrated success defining and launching profitable service lines or products

  • Ability to drive results in a heavily matrixed environment with proven ability to influence cross-functional teams

  • Highly analytic and strong ability to navigate financial statements and understand ROI drivers, including medical cost and trend utilization levers

  • Proven organizational skills with ability to be flexible and work with ambiguity

  • Familiarity with regulatory issues with insured products, capitation, and direct risk

  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time
