The Individual MDM Data Analyst role is to strategically manage assigned individual data entities across the enterprise, while ensuring high levels of data quality, integrity, availability and privacy. This individual is responsible for standardizing data naming, establishing consistent data definitions, and monitoring/auditing the data quality. Primary Responsibilities:
- Engage with application subject matter experts to understand the processes, rules, requirements and deficiencies of consumer data within Optum
- Be part of a group of individuals, dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the overall quality of consumer data from each disparate source system
- Perform data quality checks for each data source system
- Resolve profile and affiliation issues on a case-by-case basis
- Facilitate the proponents of conflicting viewpoints to arrive at a mutually satisfactory solution
- Effectively convey the business rules and definitions and promote them within the business areas
- Contribute to the business data model. Provide the business rules, definitions, etc.
- Provide business requirements. Work with IT MDM system analysts during system development and provide them with requirements
- Determine who can access what data based on legal and contractual requirements
- Prepare scorecards/dashboards on data quality and data governance metrics
- Keep IT informed of business changes that impact data. As the business environment evolves, changes are needed in systems and data to ensure that they continue to support the business. Information about these changes must be transmitted to IT on a timely basis to ensure that the data asset can be appropriately leveraged
- Develop business requirements and participate on IT projects focused on developing master data management capabilities across OptumHealth
Accountabilities
- Work with the data governance board to help uphold data governance policies and procedures to ensure standardized data naming, establish consistent data definitions and monitor overall data quality for assigned data entities
- Ensure that data management methodologies include the steps, activities, and deliverables required to consistently achieve high quality data
- Ensure that the applications adhere to defined data management practices, policies and procedures. Identify and manage the resolution of data quality issues, such as uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency and completeness in a cost-effective and timely fashion
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS Accounting / Computer Science / Business / MIS (or equivalent work experience to substitute for education)
- 2+ years' experience working as a Data Steward, Data Analyst or Business Analyst
- Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles and practices.
- Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques
- Must be able to represent the data management team as a key subject-matter expert and resource for the consumer data entity
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities
- Strong written, technical documentation and oral communication skills
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare Industry experience
- IBM MDM Server experience a plus
- Tableau experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, MS Access, SQL, and SAS BI experience a plus
