I. Position Summary:

The Clinical Education Specialist exemplifies professional nursing practice through expertise in clinical practice, education, consultation, and research activities. The Education Specialist facilitates clinical orientation, Meditech training, student placement, in-services, role modeling, product/equipment education, continuing education, competency assessment and professional development opportunities for nursing staff. The Education Specialist functions as resource for staff development and clinical issues. The Education Specialist participates in the identification, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Education Plan. The Education Specialist provides patient care for the population served. He/She performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care at North Suburban Medical Center. The Education Specialist displays positive support for the values and mission of North Suburban Medical Center.

Position Requirements:

A. Licensure/Certification/Registration : Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Colorado. Current BLS certification. AHA BLS Instructor certification preferred.

B. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing - BSN preferred.

C. Experience: Recent clinical RN experience (3 yrs)- Med-Surg and/or Telemetry Nursing experience preferred.

D. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities : Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills, organizational skills and the ability to plan and provide for delivery of education to customers. Provides safe and appropriate patient care within the standards of nursing practice at North Suburban Medical Center. Displays appropriate judgment and problem solving skills. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills by communicating positively and professionally with all internal and external customers. Must be able to articulate and demonstrate knowledge of adult learning principles, nursing theory, nursing standards and practice and educational design and delivery. Proficiency in computer skills and presentation skills highly recommended
