Security Officer
Founded more than 125 years ago by German physicians, Research Medical Center is a 490-bed facility and has become one of the crown jewels in the HCA Midwest Health System. Located in the heart of Kansas City, Research Medical Center is among the only tertiary care centers serving Kansas City proper. Over the past century, this institution has built a tradition of serving residents in Kansas City and a 150-mile surrounding region with exceptional patient care and leading technology. Research Medical Center has completed more than $120 million in capital improvements, including new lobby and admitting areas, renovated and expanded Cancer Center and Women’s Care Unit, construction of all private patient rooms and doubling the Emergency Department.
Research Medical Center is looking for a Security Officer .
Position Summary :
Performs safety and security duties and assigned tasks to include the protection of persons and property on the RMC main campus, the Brookside Campus and the RPC Campus: investigates, document and follow up on all incidents; responds to duress, hold up, or burglary alarms; performs inspections for safety, security, fire hazards; provides building and campus patrol; operates fire equipment and may function as Fire Marshal; performs fire drills; parking control; control after hours access; maintains department equipment; maintains confidentiality of all security and facility information; responds to hazardous material spills; access to the Gamma Knife, authorized to transport and deliver legend drugs, non-prescription drugs, contrast media and drug containing devices relative to core competencies, provides services not available from other facility departments and fulfills all request from Administration; responsible for enforcing policies and guidelines. Is responsible for rotation to cover Safety and Security at Belton Regional Medical Center as needed.
Minimum Requirements :
Education: High School or equivalent required. College level courses in police sciences or related fields preferred.
Knowledge/Professional Licensure/Registration/Certifications: Be able to maintain a current driver’s license. Obtain and maintain a police commission for armed patrol agent, which includes shooting a qualifying score with a revolver or semi-automatic handgun. Be a citizen of the United sates; Pass a pre-employment drug test. Able to communicate well both orally and in writing. Able to work with people under stressful situations; understand fire safety principles and able to direct others during an emergency.
Experience: A minimum of two years security or equivalent in law enforcement or military preferred. College level course work in police science or related fields preferred.
