General Description:

Under general supervision, will provide services for the Respiratory Therapy Department in a timely and efficient manner for all appropriate age levels and in all areas that are served by the department.

Essential Function/Duties:

Administers therapeutic treatments as prescribed by attending medical staff. Records treatment information and patient's treatment response in their computerized medical record. Act as a resource person to medical staff. Will perform invasive and noninvasive diagnostic testing and monitoring of patients. Will provide age appropriate care to patients. Ensure that respiratory equipment is cleaned and maintained. Maintain necessary respiratory therapy records. Will be part of the quick response team for cardiac and respiratory arrests.

Minimum Qualifications:

*Education: Graduation from an approved therapist program for Respiratory Therapy.

* Licensure: Licensed by the State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Registered by the National Board of

Respiratory Care. Must have current CPR certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of procedures and techniques of Respiratory Therapy and the operation and repair of respiratory equipment. Clinical decision making skills appropriate to patient care as it relates to the pulmonary and cardiac system, age of the patient and the ability to interpret the appropriate information to identify patient's needs. Ability to work under stress. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain a good working relationship with coworkers and staff. Some computer skills.

Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation):

Position requires frequent walking. Will be twisting, bending, stooping, and reaching. Will be lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying objects. May assist in lifting patients. Sufficient manual dexterity to operate respiratory equipment. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
